“Inconvenient location and small rooms”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

I was planning to stay this hotel during my visit to Tbilisi. But the reality was completely different from the pictures. The streets going to the hotel is very dark. The hotel itself is average and rooms are not so big.

Room Tip: Spend time to remember the road to hotel

When one walks into this little hotel through the elegant facade, one comes across a clean and tastefully done small lobby where friendly staff greets you. The rooms and unsuite bathrooms are clean and comfortable. The single rooms can be a little cramped though. The breakfast buffet, served in the small atrium is excellent that offers seasonal fruits, cheeses, yogurt and good breads. The staffs are efficient, who helped us find a reliable taxi driver for a day trip to Mtskheta. Located in the midst of the old town, many of the sights and the park along the river are just a few minutes of walk away.

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper floors are quieter.

We were hosted in another hotel in Tbilisi that we found highly overpriced. Check my reviews for more info if you want to know which. So on our way back to Tbilisi after some days visiting the country, we visited several places trying to find a room until we found this cosy pearl in the middle of Old Town, with very good prices and friendly service who even gave us a discount for three nights...
Breakfast is excellent.
Clean, new and nice rooms, well located, attentive service, cheap transfer to airport.
It's perfect! I will go every time I visit Georgia!!

Room Tip: Room 4 is too small compared to others. Don't choose this one..

The hotel is in an old building which has been nicely renovated - in the interior, everything is clean & new. There is a 2-story internal atrium; most rooms have their door facing the atrium and windows facing the street.
Our room was large and well-furnished - bed was comfortable, bathroom was good. Pretty good WiFi service in room. There was a small stand-up balcony with views down the street.
Breakfast is served in the atrium and is above-average for hotel breakfast.
Location is central; walking distance to old town sightseeing and Rustaveli avenue. There is a little shop just a few steps way where you can conveniently get drinks, snacks, etc.
The immediate neighborhood around the hotel is rather quiet and might seem a little isolated at night, but we never felt in danger. Also there is a parking/security man who sits in a little booth quite close to the front door of the hotel.
We didn't interact with the staff very much but they were always pleasant & helpful, and they spoke English.

A nice quiet hotel which in an excellent location which is not quite as luxurious as, but a nice boutique alternative, to the chain hotels. Service was quietly good, if not effusive. Nice breakfast. All amenities in good condition. Will be a real bonus when swimming pool is ready. Recommended.

I was booked in here, at my request, by the company organising my tour of Georgia, so I don't know what it cost. I stayed at the beginning and end of my trip.
The place isn't easy to find. It is in Old Tbilisi which has lots of one-way streets, narrow streets and is in the process of being completely rebuilt (yes the whole area) so roads are closed. And it also feels like you are in a building site, with some of the noises you would expect.
For some reason they keep the front door locked, so every time you go in you have to ring the bell and wait for someone to come to the door. Rooms are arranged on two sides of a courtyard which has been given a glass roof and which is where they serve breakfast. I also found it was the only place you could reliably connect to the Wi-Fi, in the rooms it was very hit-and-miss.
First time around I was put into a big room over the entrance with lots of windows - great. Second time I was in a small room on the ground floor that was rather gloomy and rather small. Bathrooms are good, laundry service was good, breakfast was OK without being special. Some of the people on the front desk (only one at a time) seemed a bit frosty.
It has ambitions to be a boutique hotel but seems to fall down over penny-pinching here and there, the courtyard area got quite warm on occasion, but the aircon wasn't on, for example.

The hotel is located in the historic old part of town, few minutes from sights, restaurants and shops. Tucked away in a little side street, and away from the traffic, you feel like in the middle of village life (i.e. no traffic noise, and all you hear is people talking on the street). The small hotel (9 rooms) is a renovated Art-Deco building, the rooms are around a two storey-glass-roofed atrium. The rooms range from conveniently spaced (upstairs rooms) to rather small (donwstairs single rooms), but all are nicely furnished, spotlessly clean, in good shape and feel comfortable (also in Art-deco style?). Service quality is supportive and friendly in style, and excellent in realization (all promises kept with regard to email reservations and frequent transport organisation).
Breakfast is taken in the nice atrium and is appropriate, in addition it contains local salads (that look and taste homemade).
I would also stay here on vacation (and Tbilisi is worth the trip!).
