My wife and I visited Kyoto restaurant on a week night and enjoyed it so much that we went back again on the weekend. The sushi was good, prices were reasonable, service was quick and attentive, and the chefs came through with flying colors on both occasions.

The staff worked hard to prepare and serve the food quickly without sacrificing quality. Although the menu (available in English and with pictures) displayed a variety of dishes, it was the sushi that got our attention. While my wife and I are no experts on sushi, after living in Japan for five years and eating our fair share of it around Asia, Europe and North America, we know good sushi when we taste it.

Portions were generous with the sushi rolls delivering a deliciously hefty mouthful with each bite. The menu includes some items usually associated with other parts of Asia (for example, sliced grilled chicken with vegetables, noodles and peanut sauce common to Southeast Asia) but includes other traditional Japanese treasures to include sashimi, miso soup, udon, tempura, and teppanyaki. Several Japanese beers (Asahi, Sapporo, and Kirin) and sake are also available.

While the dining area on the main floor gives you a view of the bar, it can get noisy. I suggest you consider the small dining area upstairs. It is divided into two sections with a folding screen that ensures privacy for those that desire it. The larger section can seat a group of five or six at two adjacent tables and there are two additional smaller tables along the side for couples. The smaller section on the other side of the divider seats four comfortably but can accommodate up to six.

This small jewel of a restaurant is located directly across the street from the Tbilisi Marriott Hotel on Rustaveli Avenue. The staff speaks Georgian, Russian and limited English. Smoking is allowed in the restaurant, and patrons were smoking on both evenings we visited, so those especially sensitive to cigarette smoke should be forewarned.

After you experienced th local Georgian cuisine (really delicious), it is worth trying this Japanese restaurant for a change. I did this and I had a pleasant surprise. This little place is located on the main boulevard of Tbilisi and serves fresh and tasteful Japanese food. The service is also good and attentive, which is a real plus.

I would definitely recommend it.
