“POOR MANAGEMENT!”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Hotel was looking really great from outside. Perfect view, locates on the hillside etc...
I do not think it is good idea to stay there in Winter. Summer can be OK l suppose.
Heater was not working, Breakfast was really dissapointing, staff was not so friendly, room was so cold and spiritless. For me was not a good idea to stay there. But to make sure l will stay once again during summer.

Room Tip: Higher floors have good view (2nd - 3rd...)

I stayed there between 31 December 2012- 2 January 2013 with my family. We stayed at 12 and 13 rooms. I advice to everyone to stay at room number 12. Coz it's much better than others.it would be very difficult to find a better view out of the hotel window. Location is very good and too close to city centre. Despite that the building is minor most rooms are big. Comparing with other hotels the price is expensive for this hotel. I paid per a room 130 euro. The breakfast was not bad but too poor. There was problem with heating system. Generally, it's not bad hotel. I would like stay again there. I do like view of the hotel and location. At the same time I do hope they will decrease the price and improve their service.

It would be hard to find a better view out your hotel window in Tiblisi, a city known for great views. This little boutique hotel sits nestled just below the old fortress facing out over the river which creates breathtaking vistas during the day that become skillfully illuminated at night. The building itself is a minor miracle - carved out of the hillside on the exact site of the oldest pharmacy in the city dating back a thousand years or more. This results in fascinating archeological finds in the lobby and a narrow but very well designed hotel structure with clean clever modern funishings featuring (in fall of 2012) browns and grays against whites. Creative and aesthetic thought is evident throughout the building. When it comes to the hotel functionality, however, that's when things notch down a peg.

The downsides - first, for the money, I think the accommodation is a little overpriced. I paid 105US (175 GEL) thanks to Expedia, but the list at check-in put my room #8 at 140-160 Euro, a bit dear for a small but decently appointed room. FYI, there are two rooms, 6&7, which go for 85 Euro; I did not see them (perhaps they face, er, the mountain wall). Second, the wireless did not work on any of the networks (I kinda expect this at 100+ a night). Third, the breakfast was adequate, but nothing special (Nescafe, or tea, hard boiled eggs, some bread and jam, meats if you wanted, yogurt, fruit). Third, the bed (two singles in my room) was hard, hard, hard. I had to use the pillows from the other bed just to stop aching. Okay, I'm a little underweight at the moment, but we're talking FIRM. A clock in the room would be nice. Oh, and keeping the electricity on is also helpful. Fourth, this hotel is on a VERY STEEP hill with flagstones. Footing is extremely slippery. If you're not under 30, used to bagging peaks, or equipped with secure shoes, I would not recommend walking down this hill with luggage, particularly when the stones are wet.

I made my resos from a distance and would have booked more nights if they had been available, based on what I could see online. They weren't so I moved to Hotel City, closer to Liberty/Freedom Square. Frankly, I'm happy I moved. While the lobby is less chic (ya gotta love Louis XIV chairs with purple chandeliers and a big plasma screen TV), the room itself is much better - bigger (I'm in #16 on the 4th floor facing the back), the bed is much comfier, the TV is in a better spot, the minibar offerings are cheaper, and THE WIFI WORKS. Still no clock, but I'll get over it.

Conclusion - go to Hotel Citadel Narikala for drinks at sunset and watch the city lights come on and illuminate the jumbled civic joy that is Tbilisi.

Room Tip: I believe most or all the rooms are situated to take advantage of the spectacular views. #8 is howe...
