As a family of 5, this hotel was a real find. It is run by Jorgi (who speaks super English having sold his art work in Brick Lane for a few years) and his mother, and one or two excellent helpers. Not many people stay here because it is a fair way from the old town but in itself it is in a nice area, in the same road as the Chinese embassy and not far from Rustaveli. Opposite is a large supermarket, and further up on the left is an unnamed, unsigned high walled building which is actually a superb restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. Just a touch further is a branch of the fantastic Entree cafe chain, perfect for the tastiest breakfast in Georgia. The other way down the hill is the most wonderful honey shop with so many different types and reasonably solid jars (tip, you still need multiple bags to get it home, but it makes a perfect present). We were glad not to be in the centre, which is no more than a half hour walk away in any case - a bit like going to London and staying in Hampstead instead of the West End. The hotel itself has a nice seating area where we brought beers in from the supermarket over the road and used wifi, played cards or read. The rooms are simple but very spacious, artily designed and quiet with excellent showers. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who continually called taxis for us and patiently explained our destinations to the drivers. When we left, they happily looked after our bags until evening. The one and only downside is that the mattresses in our room had well and truly had it - Jorgi, please buy new ones! - but this did not prevent a good night's sleep. We absolutely loved this hotel.
