“Nice and reasonable”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

The overwhelming hospitality of the Georgian people is what makes Georgia such an incredible place to visit. The amenities of Armazi palace are typical of similar small family-owned hotels in the city. Normally in a hotel like this you are treated as a family guests on whom the owners shower lavishly their hospitality with little regard of what you really need. At Armazi Palace the owners and the staff understand well the Western standards of hospitality and professionalism. The rooms are spacious, immaculate with well-functioning bathrooms. The breakfast food is excellent and if you need lunch or dinner arranged they will do it for you with advanced notice. Though it is not walking distance to the cities sights and attractions, it is a very quick cab ride or you can use a subway which is nearby. Some rooms have gorgeous views. There is no elevators, so if stairs are a problem for you, this is not the place. Otherwise, it is a great place to stay at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: reserve a suite. More spacious, not that much more expensive

At first I was disappointed. The hotel is on a poorly paved side street. The hotel lobby is OK, but the photo gives the impression of high quality. It's really just average. The first night I had a room on the fourth floor and it's quite a hike, especially with luggage. I changed a room on the second floor with a double bed....quite comfortable and clean, but just average. The staff is excellent. All the receptionists speak good English and are very helpful. The hotel is located very near a Metro stop and there are food shops in the area. The hotel is in walking distance of the bridges across the river to the main sections of the city. Breakfast is satisfactory. Almost every day boiled egg, cheese, pastries. One day, fried eggs.

Room Tip: Room 224 on the second floor has a double bed.

My husband and our two children stayed in this hotel on two occasions: when we first arrived to Georgia, and when we came back from a sightseeing trip. We felt like we were staying with a family! Very welcoming reception staff - many thanks to Diana and Tamar! Our room was extremely spacious, with a great A/C, and a small balcony. They put in a 4th bed, and it still was very large, nice to relax on the sofa. We were picked up at the airport. We brought the breakfast up to the room and had enough space to sit around a large coffee table. The metro is just around the corner, but we walked across the bridge to the other side of the river and old town. The hotel arranged for a woman to do our laundry (very helpful with 2 kids), answered all our questions and gave advice on places to see and how to get there, ordered us taxis which saved us at least 50% off the street fare. It was quiet, convenient, and less expensive than most other hotels, especially because it is difficult to find a room in Tbilisi that will accommodate 4 people.
The only wish we had - and not only in Armazi, but in other places in Georgia - was to have real juice, sweetened yogurt, and oatmeal or cereal for breakfast. The kids do not drink tea or coffee, and are not big on tomatoes and olives with cheese. But we bought yogurt and juice by the metro and kept it in the room's fridge.
Tbilisi is being renovated, so most streets around the hotel are unpaved, houses are in disrepair and many on the brink of collapse, but Armazi is a little oasis.
We stayed at Sheraton on the last night because Armazi was fully booked, and we had to get 2 rooms. It was farther from the old town, and breakfast was not included. I missed being in Armazi.

First of all many thanks to the owner who was forthcoming and welcoming.
Then kudos to the hotel staff. The ladies at the reception and the women in restaurant made our stay easy and helped us at n number of places.
The location is really good with beautiful views of Sameba and other buildings but it was the hotel staff that added a charm to it that is commendable.

A good 3-star hotel situated in a residential area, only a few hundred meters from Avlabari Metro station.
Rooms facing the street can suffer from some noise from playing children - which may add to the hotel´s charm, depending on your taste - but will also give you a splendid view over Tbilisi.
Some rooms have balconies, and most are equipped with satelite TV and minibar and A/C.
A few rooms do not have "inside" facilities, but you will have your own key to a private bathroom just outside your room.
Very helpful and welcoming staff and competetive rates, and the airport pick up/drop off was worth the price.
Breakfast is standard Georgian, tomatoes/cucumbers, cheese and bread and some kind of eggs.
All in all a good chance to se another side of Tbilisi than the posh and overpriced tourist area.
If returning to Tbilisi, this will be our choice of hotel once again.

Room Tip: Rooms 32 and 42 are larger corner rooms with balconies, but will tend to be very hot during summer.
