Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel, Tbilisi

A few friends and I called the Radisson Blu 'home base' during a short four day trip to Georgia. The location is great as the hotel is a five- to ten-minute taxi ride away from all of the tourist spots in the city. (These short taxi rides should cost between 5 and 10 Lari. Don't pay more.) The hotel is steps away from a great street with all sorts of branded shops and museums. My favorite aspects of the Radisson Blu were the super friendly staff members; fantastic breakfast spread; modern, clean, and comfortable rooms, and the Casino! Seriously, casinos are a big deal in Tbilisi and the casino just off the lobby of the Rad Blu is top notch. And don't miss the spa while you're there. At least go in to use the wet facilities. One entire wall of the men's sauna is a window that looks out onto the city. Totally cool! I strongly recommend this hotel over the Marriott, which is just down the street, but light years away in terms of decor and, um, 'newness'. If you're looking for a hotel that you can trust in Tbilisi then look no further than the Radisson Blu - next time I go to Georgia it will be my home base again.

Room Tip: As for a room that overlooks the river. There's construction nearby and rooms that overlook the...

This hotel is very well run and all of the staff demonstrate an eagerness to serve in a professional manner. The rooms are of high calibre with all the amenities expected of a five star hotel. The breakfasts are superb and cater for a very wide range of inernational tastes. The only criticism that perhaps could be levied is that the two bars are perhaps a little sterile in their ambience. It would be nicer if one of the two bars had a little more local character leaving the other to function as a more international hotel bar.

warm welcome by the staff and had a chance of tasting green Canadian apples as a part of it.

Although the room was non smoking but it was smelling a bit. this is the big problem in Georgia everywhere people smoke and frankly speaking even more than Turkey.

the room had a great view of the river and Rustaveli Ave and a modern, clean bathroom. The pool was under rennovation so hadn't a chance to use it. we loved the room a lot and was very comfortable.

Room Tip: this is the best hotel in Tbilisi

First of all let me thank you for staying at our beautiful hotel.

Thank you very much for your comment. We would like to apologize for inconvenience caused by smoking issue.

Smoking and non smoking areas are separated in our hotel to minimize the disturbance in all hotel outlets and guest rooms. As you may know the smoking is still allowed in the buildings in Georgia.

Pool is closed for renovation till 1st of September 2012.

Wish to see you in our beautiful hotel during your next visit to Tbilisi.

The property is very pleasant and the service is good. The breakfast was better than expected as was the spa area. The swimming pool is rather small, however, and can get slightly crowded at times. The location of the hotel is not ideal but Tbilisi is a small place so getting around is not a problem. Nothing spectacular but a very solid hotel.

I am Carlson Club member, meaning stayed with few other Radisson hotels before and will do. Radisson Blu in Tbilisi is the brilliant hotel, why? I am telling you.

- Brand new / renovated hotel in heart of the city ! easy to access wherever you want!
- Staff are lovely, very friendly, professional and helpful! specially in a country not everyone speak good English, I was amazed to see them all with good command of English! even hotel driver was very good!
- Terrace bar / restaurant is awesome place and relaxing with nice live music and great view of the city!
- breakfast is also good which is very important !
- They have nice Casino, did not go there but seems popular ! :)
- They have exchange service (government bank), Car rental at the hotel!
- Rooms big enough, well kept modern furniture and comfy bed!
- Bathroom / shower is nice and clean, but they dont have hand-shower for their toilet ! not very pleasant for me !
- I was on 15th floor, had lovely view of the city, river and the big church!
- I am not sure why corridors was a bit warm ! guess no A/C there?
- There is big post office next to hotel under construction and some other construction in front of hotel but wont be much disturbing ! you can still enjoy the stay !
- The price was a bit high but I think if you consider you will stay in best hotel of the city! You might say it is ok.

I was there for three days for business and was great place for me as business hotel! loved it, if your budget allow you, its the place to be.

Room Tip: Room on higher floors has beautiful view !

In a former life, the glass edifice that is now the Radisson Blu in Tbilisi was a Soviet icon. It has also housed refugees before being restyled into a funky and fabulous manifestation of modern Georgia.

It's well located, 15 mins walk from the Old City as well as the city's lovely museums and landmarks. Word for tourists, nothing seems to open before 11am in this town, so drop back a gear and enjoy.

The hotel, with its soaring glass exterior perched in the Mtkvari River, offers sleek and very livable rooms for a decent price. I was fortunate to be upgraded to a "Business Class" room, which was a corner room. The "wow" factor comes from the floor to ceiling wraparound windows with 180 degree views of the city and river.

The comfortable bed faces this stunning view, while the designers seem to not want guests to be distracted, with the work desk tucked in a corner with a view of the wall. True to its' name, the room has plenty of power sockets and free wifi, which was slow sometimes but mostly reliable.

The bathrooms meanwhile are a sensation. With a roomy tub, separate shower and acres of space, the amenities are from boutique spa outfit Anne Semonin and include a thoughtful pot of hand cream. The laundry service was efficient and reasonably priced and the minibar well stocked.

The hotel has a wonderful outside terrace overlooking the river, which seems to be the place to be in the evening, filled with young and fashionable Georgians drinking the very quaffable local wine and cocktails. This same restaurant hosts the daily breakfast, which includes a buffet of the predictable eggs, hot options, cold cuts and fruit etc. One welcome surprise was a very generous platter of local cheeses. One evening we dined in the restaurant, the food, although not strictly Georgian, had a mediterranean flavor, all our dishes were tasty and we found the wine waiter extremely knowledgeable.

There is also a bar on the 18th floor next to the pool plus another downstairs, depending on your mood. We were invited to a gathering of guests for "GM's drinks" on the terrace on one evening and treated to the local wine and mojitos with a sampling of dishes from the restaurant.

The 18th and 19th floor is home to the gym, spa and stunning pool which has a panoramic view over the city. The spa, also Anne Semonin, has a full menu of services from facials to massages and everyone in between. I opted for a massage on the second day and the therapist was well trained and excellent.

The airport transfer from the small but amazingly efficient airport was GEL60 each way, worth the price for lack of hassle. Front desk staff were very helpful in booking restaurants, tour guides and other important issues. Beset with a headache (maybe too much Georgian wine?), within minutes they had gone to a local pharmacy for me. Special mention must go to Boris, who was helpful above and beyond.

Without fail, the staff were knowledgeable, fluent in English and very helpful. Having never stayed in a Radisson before, I am now keen to explore the chain if this hotel is anything to go by.

While the hotel does a brisk trade in business travelers, it is also able to cater to those looking to explore the "New Europe" as a tourist. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Business rooms are corner rooms with stunning views of the river. Breakfast is included with these a...
