“Best view in Tbilisi”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

I can't say a lot about the rooms in Hotel Kopala, however the restaurant is great. I've been there about 10-12 times and always enjoy it.
The food is good, however in some other restaurants you can taste way more tasty Georgian food, but the view from the retaurant is breathtaking. The music is not loud , mostly soft piano music. Definetely great place to go for a lunch/dinner and probbly to stay as well in Tbilisi.

“Passion on the plate”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Visited this restaurant twice while stayed in other hotel. Really amazing view on the old Tbilisi and you can sit either on the open terrace or inside of the restaurant. Both are lovely. Food and service are great. Georgian cuisine along with a glass of Saperavi makes you eat more than you normally do, there's a passion on every plate and in every dish.
On a hot day try cold soup made of Matsoni, it will refresh you and you'll be able to make another tour around the city. I would also recommend tolma in grape leaves, very local and very tasty. In the evening there was live music and we were lucky to enjoy fireworks nearby the river.
And yes, the prices are very affordable!

“A nice enough restaurant with a good view, but not outstanding”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Kopala is a good place to go if you need to show someone the town and impress them with the view. The downside is that the food is only average for the price and finding parking in the area can be a real pain in the butt.

“Great view, so-so food, albeit "quality"”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

The many views here are great. There is also an outdoor patio perched above the city, very long and at times windy, overlooking the Rike concrete slabs staging ground complex built by Saakashvili [for teenage skateboarders?] directly underneath his grand presidential palace, that has the NASA looking spaceship building under construction for far-in-the-future theater outdoor performances. Much more appealing, are all the views of Deda Kartlis, the cable cars going up to Narikala Fortress, the mountains, distant old churches, the river, well.....overall, many pretty scenic views of Tbilisi, all from one restaurant, which has many different rooms and points of view.

My Georgian friends told me before i ordered, "go lightly on the ordering, the food here is always okay but not great". Ditto for the wine. You will never complain about the food here, but you will most probably not rave about it either.

If you have never eaten out in Tbilisi, this is a good place to eat first to get acquainted with some Georgian dishes and to see the layout of the central city.

Don't order the caviar, it is too salty. And if you want to pay twice the cost of a double espresso ordered in Rome, at less than half the quality, go ahead and order a double espresso here. Do not follow the advice of the male waiters. They are just posturing. And don't say "yes" to be polite, if it seems you are being offered a complimentary "chacha" or brandy at the end of your meal, like a free liqueur in Barcelona or Florence. It is not free, despite the forceful friendliness of the waiter's vehement questioning.

The Georgian baby potatoes, a simple national dish, deep fried like french fries, are very good.

The chicken salad and shrimp Caesar's salad are not as good as sold at nearby Entree, a local French bakery chain.

I would not recommend learning your Georgian wines here for the first time. You could do better elsewhere, but if you lack time, do it here.

The interior design is very well done, and with several motifs in the different areas, each with lovely views. Kudos to the talented designer.

Again, the views are as good as they get in Tbilisi, and the atmosphere[s] within the large restaurant are elegant and tasteful.

“Great View”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

The restaurant on the top terraces of the hotel commands great view of the Narikala Fortress and the old town. However, the food was nothing to rave about, and the service was slow. The place was packed though. The gorgeous view, I guess, attracts a lot of people to this restaurant. We had enjoyed an amazing sun set vista from our table that evening!
