Description: WE HAVE MOVED TO 80 UNIVERSITY AVENUE. Le Planteur opens a new restaurant on Inya Lake, at 80 University Road. Le Planteur (Inya Lake) upgraded even more to the next standard of finesse in quality, standard and ambience!! And so, Le Planteur (Inya Lake) remains faithful to its concept, in a stunningly attractive venue!! It is an exciting and wonderful evolution and change for Le Planteur - but the things you and I love about Le Planteur have not changed. A new Chef arrived at Le Planteur! The team is proud to welcome Chef Gil Dumoulin who will be in charge of the fine dining restaurant.

My wife and I had just moved into our new place, so with the kitchen still not working (no gas) we asked our driver to drop us off somewhere for lunch. After skipping his first choice we asked for somewhere "nice". His "nice" turned out to be our "very nice" as he dropped us at Le Planteur.
As it was Saturday Lunch Time, We didn't need a booking and the place was not too busy.
Our first impressions confirmed what we had heard about Le Planteur "very nice Indeed". We opted for the set lunch which was reasonably priced and was served to perfection. Needless to say we will be going back again.

Le Planteur is owned by a Swiss chef but he no longer cooks here because he opened a second restaurant in another area of Myanmar. While the food is described as French it is really more Burmese plus BBQ. Sit in the garden and enjoy the beautiful grounds, attentive service and enjoy that you are in one of the unique cities of the world. Go before Rangon gets Westernized. The food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommend it although it is a little expensive.

During our stay in Yangon in October 2012, we have been twice at Le
Planteur for dinner. What a superb place for all the senses!

The surprise started allready with the shuttle service in an old timer
from the hotel to the restaurant. Like in an old movie. As the car gasped
up the hill to the colonial estate, the expectations could not have been
bigger, which usually does not make thins easier. But they were more than
met by the cheerful and well organized staff and the delicious dinners.

As the rainy season was not yet over, we could not eat in the garden,
which must be great with all the set tables and candles on the lawn. But
we had our welcome drink in the newly designed apero-armchairs overlooking
the garden.

We once eat at the covered terrasse and once on the first floor. Both
places with a special charm and enough room to feel comfortable and
undisturbed by the neighbours.

We know Felix and Lucia Eppisser an their professional skills allready
from Zurich/Switzerland and so we were curious to see, if they can meet
the fine dining standards also in this environnement. And the result is
astonishing: with care and creativity they and their crews give the french
cuisine - which is name and program of Le Planteur an asian touch an
finesse. We specially liked the home made truffle ravioli with truffle foam and the
seared red snapper with spiced melon pearls.

Only when we left, we realized that there is a - from the owner
Boris Granges himself - specially designed room to the right in the
basement. It serves as a bar and smoking lounge and you should not miss to
discover the cheerfull details of this boudoire!

Thank you so much, Lucia and Felix Eppisser and the whole crew for this
two unforgettable evenings.

I have seen this place change places and they have maintained their consistency in service and quality of food. Prices have gone up, understandibily, but you cannot find a comparable restaurant in the city for fine dining. Good ambience and a decent wine list.
