Fun experience and super nice staff

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 14, 2019
One of the nicest things about the yacht is the staff. They were always super smiley and helpful. The yacht has a lot of character which make for great pictures. They don't have a full pool or gym but they have a nice jacuzzi area on an open deck and they also have a spa with very affordable packages. The food and drink are also affordably priced a.

There's some entertainment on the yacht but not every night so check ahead to see the events. From what we saw, they have movie night (with a great looking cinema) and concerts/dance shows but again, not every night.

I'd definitely recommend it for a night or two. It's a fun experience!

This is a really fun hotel to stay in if you are in Yangon... We only stayed one night but it was really good, the theme in the rooms is really well done. It’s not exactly 5* but it is something different and well worth a look.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this amazing hotel. It is a small cruise liner retrofitted to a 1920's vintage theme. Before I go on, I want to clear up one concern other TA posters reported. They found the carpeting to smell musty, well they have addressed the problem and fixed it-no odor. Our stateroom was large with a picture window and balcony to watch the river traffic. Decor is Disneyesque, very whimsical, The furniture is in the style of vintage steamer trunks, the mini bar is a wine barrel. All the modern conveniences too, big TV, quiet air conditioning. roomy bathroom, comfortable bed, and they even give you two pillows:one strong and one soft.
The theming extends to the two top deck restaurants. We dined out side overlooking the bow of the ship-simply delightful. Food was excellent, both Asian and western. The breakfast buffet was also excellent lots of choices. The ships staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. Its about 2 km to the downtown center (Sule Pagoda) but they offer a free shuttle and called a cab when we needed it. Very cheap cabs. At the foot of the gangplank they have a a traditional thanka setup (Burmese sun cream). The ships attendant demonstrated its use to my wife and applied it for her. She was delighted. We would most definitely stay there again. The rooms and restaurant are worth what you pay. We are normally budget conscious travelers but when the experience outweighs the cost, we are happy to splurge.

Room tip: Non reverview rooms offer view of a container storage yard and a bit of the city. The river views are more romantic.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for three nights. Good location, near a beautiful pagoda. The staff is so kind and always smiling and very helpfull. Breakfast is included and it’s delicious, with asian and western dishes. We also had dinner there and it was so so delicious, with dishes from west, China, Myanmar and India. Thay also have options for vegan. The hotel is really beautiful, clean and well decorated. It offers different services as spa, massage, theatre with cinema nights, some days also music nights. This place is worth a visit!

Vintage Luxury Yacht Hotel Yangon

My husband and I had a unique wedding anniversary stay on board the charming vintage luxury Yacht hotel, Yangon located at a convenient distance from down town Yangon.

The first thing that caught my eye on the wooden gangplank leading up to the yacht were two large vintage looking chairs that made us feel like midgets. The curios on the yacht were an absolute treat for vintage lovers like us.

We had a river facing room with a balcony that looked out over the infinite expanse of the Yangon river. The view of the clear night sky with twinkling stars paired with drinks was sheer delight. Mosquitoes kept us company since the yacht was stationary, but that was a minor inconvenience in the backdrop of the beauty we were surrounded with. It will be good if the hotel provides some mosquito repellant in the rooms.

Though I love cruises, it was great to have the feeling of being on a cruise without the movement of the ship. And a large sized cabin unlike the usual small ship cabins was a huge plus.

Despite being a late riser I woke up very early to the first rays of sunlight streaming in. I walked out to the balcony and witnessed a spell binding sunrise with fishing boats bobbing up and down on the horizon.

Surrounded by the vast Yangon River, it was difficult to believe that bustling downtown Yangon was barely a short walk away.

The surprisingly affordable spa and the open air jaccuzi on the open deck of the ship looked very enticing. But, we didn't have enough time to avail of these services.

Meals in the in house restaurant were a bit pricey, but a setting like that obviously comes with a price tag. There are plenty of good, budget restaurants a short cab ride away. The bar was very innovatively designed and one can spend hours relaxing with drinks on the very comfortable chairs of the river facing bar.

We to pay a minimal port fees each time we drove in by taxi. Grab cabs are a very convenient option for getting around. The internet network was a bit weak in the room, but the reception helped us book Grab cabs on the app.

There is a monastery containing the tooth and hair relic of Buddha walking distance from the hotel.

To sum it up, stay at the Vintage Luxury Yacht Hotel if you are looking to stay in downtown Yangon in a unique setting where you also get to reconnect with yourself and slow down your pace of life.
