“Very moving”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

Not as pristine as the more visited war graves in Europe. Nonetheless well worth the stop and spending a little time paying respects to the wide age range (17 to 54 on graves we noted) of those killed in the Burma campaigns. Also a useful reminder that the majority of recorded deaths were Indian and African soldiers serving with the British Army.

A bit far from the city but in direction of Bago where there are many temples and monasteries. Worth the stop to stretch your legs and breath some historic moments

“A Solid Memorial”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

Thank you for paying respect to the Allied soldiers. A well managed cemetery and memorial. Very diverse as the soldiers come from many parts of the world. No Americans as I know they were all brought back to the USA. What was overwhelming were the amount of unknown soldiers buried there. Much respect. I only wish there was a book or pamphlet to read more about these brave people who fought for freedom.

“WWII Cemetary Yangon”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

A very peaceful and beautiful memorial to the fallen allied soldiers of WWII. It is very diverse with soldiers from Nigeria, South Africa, Nepalese Gurkhas, Idian Sikhs, the Burmese and the British to name a few. No Americans as they are always brought home.
The best moment was finding flowers and a note at one marker from a daughter to a father wishing him a happy 100th birthday "and I think of you daily."
I was hoping to find a brochure to learn more information unfortunately, there is nothing available other than what you can find on the internet.
Well worth a visit to pay respects as it is very close to Yangon and a reminder of those who fought for freedom against oppression.

“Very moving experience”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

This memorial is beautfully kept and so moving as a memorial to all those who died in the Burma theatre in the Second World War.
I'ts about 10 mile from the airport so not too difficult to reach after arriving or en route north.
