Panorama is situated in the muslim quarter of the town very near to the central railway station and the. Lots of shops and restaurants in the vicinity. The Sule Pagoda is 15 minutes away as is the tourist market. The hotel provides good service (e.g. free internet). Frequented by travel groups and business people (Chinese and Indian).

Stayed one night in the Panorama which is located in a not so well lit street with a big flyover just in front of the hotel. We had a room facing the back which was relatively clean. Advertised as a 3-star, I would say this is a bit overrated, however. The 64 or so rooms sport hot water and we even had CNN on TV. I think some remodeling here and there and a serious paint job would make a big difference here. Due to our early departure, we were given a breakfast-to-go bag, which was a nice gesture. One of the oddities of this place was that they apparently allow their staff to sleep in the hallways. Not sure if I would consider this a security feature or not.

Room tip: Get a room facing the back side. Shabby view, but less noise, for sure.

I've stayed in many hotels of different types throughout South East Asia. I am not a fussy traveler. But I will not stay here again and I do not recommend it. The hotel is in a great location. Other than that, it was just barely clean. This was one of the few times that I didn't want to be barefoot in the room or in the bathroom or even the shower. We only stayed one night. And that was more than enough.

Rooms are worn-down and need redecoration, but are clean. Breakfast boring bland and tasteless. If you get a room on the upper floor (ninth) the view is quite nice if you get a room facing west. Location however is perfect for Yangon, easy walking distance to the center, Sule Pagoda, Bogyoke Aung San Market. Short taxi drive to Shwedagon Pagoda. Hotell staff are polite and efficient, you can change money in the reception.

Room tip: Choose a room on the ninth floor facing west for good views.

Panorama Hotel is a good mid-range option for all those who can't afford hefty prices present in Yangon these days. The staff is friendly and efficient. The rooms are very simple and contain the basics only, but they are spacious and clean. A no-frills hotel in a perfect location for the exploration of this great city on foot!
