Located close to Chinatown, the interior is very interesting and the Mr Samuels provides lots of information. His son can also tell you what he believes the future holds for the synogue which of very interesting. Worth a quick visit for sure.

What a pleasant surprise to find this well loved and cared for Synagogue. Sadly, the Jewish population in Yangon is very small and in years to come, it might disappear... who will care for this wonderful place then?

Our group visited this synagogue at the beginning of our trip. One man, Sammy, basically runs and maintains it and his son is involved to a degree as well. The synagogue itself is not in the greatest repair, and with so few Jews left in Burma, there are almost never any bar mitzvahs or weddings to celebrate. However, definitely worth a visit for those who care about Judaism and history.

There is one man who maintains the synagogue and museum. It is a must see for Jewish travellers in Myanmar and worthwhile for others as well. Some great old photos and newspaper columns

Gorgeous little synagogue in the heart of Yangon. It was most unexpected in a Buddhist country but it's well cared for and a genuine treat.
