“Over-priced but normal for Yangon”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

I did a lot of research before booking this hotel largely based on reviews here. It was about what I was led to expect however I believe better value would be found elsewhere. Downside was the musty smell throughout the building, the unappealing narrow street with potholes, unappetising continental breakfast with awful coffee and the price of about USD$90 was way to high. Having said that it would seem most hotel accommodation in this city charges big premiums compared with other major S.E Asian cities. Upsides were the abundance of friendly young staff with good English, relative cleanliness and the central location. The bathroom was nice and air conditioning effective. The East hotel and Centre Hotel nearby would both appear to offer better value.

We booked this hotel through Agoda and paid around USD 100 per night for one twin-bed room.
My husband and I checked in hotel on 12 August 2013.
On that evening, the first time I used the shower to bath,( Before that we never touch the shower ) the shower that hung on the wall dropped down accidentally and hit on my head, it dropped on the floor and broken. I reported to the staff in the counter, they want me to pay 25000 kyats ( USD26)
for the shower. I felt very unfair and disspointed, I want to talk to the manager, but that coward manager just hide in a room, and ask the staff to tell me if I don't pay, he will charge the staffs.
What kind of person is he ? He is a coward !
I wonder if that day when I was hit by the shower and get hurt, can I claim for compensation ? Do I still have to pay for the fallen shower ?( It might simply hung there by the former user or the cleaner)
We doesn't want the staff to be punish, eventually we took the whole shower set and went to a shop to buy the same type of shower and fit it back .
We were unhappy with the rules of the hotel and the bad attitude of the manager. We stay there for two nights because we have paid 2 nights room charges through Agoda.
The next morning when we were checking out, the tall staff with little beard showed us sour face.
One of the taxi driver told us that we have been over charged. He told us that we can get a double bed room for USD 10 two streets away, that is street 30.
This hotel is just a very basic hotel in a very dirty street, the hotel is very expensive and yet the attitutude of the manager and the staff were so bad !
THIS HOTEL IS VERY BAD !
NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS HOTEL TO SHARE !!!!!

Room Tip: Do not book this hotel, just go to street 30 ( two street away ), you can get a cheap hotel in the c...

Stayed there in August 2013 and giving the hustle of Yangon's current construction efforts, I guess parts of this review could be outdated quickly.

The hotel's biggest asset is its location, second the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

Location: central location behind Trader's hotel but in a rather unappealing side alley. Currently there are few Western hotels in that area with a price tag of less than $100.
Can be noisy at times!

The staff is friendly and tries to make do with the property as it is.
The hotel is brand new, opened in spring 2013. So, on the positive side all rooms, hallways, the small lobby etc. are still very clean. Same goes for things like cutlery etc.

In regard to the rooms, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. A bed, white linen, simple flat TV, some small furniture and that's it.
Bathroom resembles "unit bath", all in one: shower room, toilet, sink all in one room.

Breakfast: same as rooms, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. Simple food, unfortunately not making much use of the readily available fresh fruits in Yangon.

Room Tip: all rooms are the same, choose higher floors because of noise

City Clover is smacked right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown Yangon along a potholed filled backalley. Its location (behind the Traders Hotel) makes it easy to spot, especially with the slew of similar looking gridlike that line the better part of the city. Pros: Location (within a short walking distance to most major tourist sites and the Aung San market), New modern comfy rooms with large beds, decent wi-fi, continental/asian breakfast spread, room service and friendly staff- ever willing to make your stay a more pleasant one. Cons: Common toilet and bath area and weak water pressure. Overall experience being a first time Myanmmar traveller is good given that quality comes at a price (the fact that average room rates are fast rising) with the growing number of foreign visitors thronging Yangon to experience its life and diversity post economic liberalisation.

I was very happy with my 6 day stay at this hotel.
I have read some of the comments regarding price. Yes it is high compared to say Bangkok hotels. The reason is that since Aung San Su Kyi,s release from house arrrest and visits by Clinton and Obama, tourism has exploded and rates have risen substancially. It is supply and demand.
The rooms are comparable to the Ibis chain, ie budget, and therefor compact rooom but comfortable bed, clean bathroom is Asian style (the hotel is in Asia) meaning the shower shares the same floor and area as the toilet and wash basin. There are slippers placed outside the shower to cater for that.
Staff all very friendly. Yes English language is poor with some, one lady at the reception was brilliant. Attitude and English. Amazing how much better your stay can be if you take the trouble to learn and use basic Burmese phrases.
I will stay there again

This is for the' Clover City Center Plus Hotel' The staff is very friendly, and they work very hard to accommodate your needs especially the AM dinning Staff (which were outstanding). Now the hotel itself is not in the best of locations, and the rates are just Terrible for what you get.... The bathroom setup is substandard . You can't flush toilet paper down the toilet, and there is no vanity, and the shower water runs down the toilet outlet..... So I'd suggest the Governors Residence, or even the Sedona, and if location is what you're worried about don't be ,because taxi cabs are extremely cheap, and if you're going to be pay why not be a bit more comfortable.... Just a thought. To be honest it's not good value at all .

This hotel has very small rooms and is located in a clumsy place. Though this property is in downtown but is located inside the main lane which is not very clean. Customer service is okay. There are better options at same price in the city.
