Good location, friendly staff and the place is clean. It is utterly lacking in ambiance but that's not why you are in Rangoon. Clover City Center Hotel is a good place to crash while exploring the wonders of Rangoon.

We booked this hotel through Agoda for around 100USD. We found it to be clean and the staff extremely helpful. Most of them, including the bellmen, not just the front desk staff, have good English and will bend over backwards to help you. The aircon works great, and the views of the city are nice from the top floors. There is wireless internet in the rooms that works pretty good. It is literally across the street from the back of Traders, so if you are interested in a Western oasis, a cool spacious lobby to sit in, and overpriced but non-sketchy food of various cultural backgrounds, you can easily walk there. Also within walking distance is Ruby Mart, a multi-floor department store with a cafe, grocery, pharmacy, sundries, clothing, housewares, etc. Breakfast at Clover City is a standardized Western breakfast (egg, toast, fruit, ketchupy beans, juice, slice of chocolate cake, tea or coffee...) You only get the one plate, but it's a lot of food, so you shouldn't go away hungry. We traveled with two small children, and the staff were very friendly and taken with them. The room was large enough to accommodate all four of us - we had two twin beds and then the room had a love seat that could be reconfigured into a bed. "Kids stay free in existing bedding," and they wanted to charge us extra for a bedsheet, but gave us an extra blanket for free, and we set the pull-out bed up ourselves. Definitely recommended for this price point.

Room Tip: Top floors have nice views. The elevator is new and modern.

We booked this hotel not expecting anything much as we were going to stay there only one night. But it turned out to be a nice little hotel, centrally located. It is just behind Traders Hotel and 15 minutes walk to The Strand. The staff were very helpful. RECOMMENDED.

while you are there, try dinner buffet at Traders Hotel ($24) and you will not be disappointed. And you can try breakfast at The Strand also (Coffee $4 and Pancake $6) but just for an amazing experience. Do not go there with high expectations!

Staying in Yangon for three nights, this hotel suited our purposes well. The room, whilst compact was clean and well maintained.

Located behind Traders hotel, Clover City Central Hotel was easy to locate after a long day out, as well as to direct taxis to the vicinity (we always disembarked at Traders and walked the short distance back). The back street on which the hotel is located is dark and yes, there is rubbish discarded along it. However, the vast majority of times we (two females) entered and left the hotel, other units within the street contained open businesses and food stalls so there were always Burmese people going about their daily lives. Never once did I feel security was an issue.

The hotel itself was generally efficient and incredibly clean with friendly and polite staff. Our twin room was pristine. The rubbery under sheets were somewhat unconventional! Our room shared a wall with the housekeeping room which did mean that we experienced some noise from phones as staff speaking to one another. If we felt it had been that bad, we would have asked for another room. However, it was no noisier than any other budget option hotel I have stayed in.

We did not take the breakfast at the hotel as it seemed expensive compared to other options available. If you fancy taking breakfast on the hoof, Traders sell bread rolls and muffins which are far cheaper than hotel breakfasts. Also in the large hotels, even though your bill comes in dollars, they will accept kyat and give you a very generous exchange rate (well Traders certainly did).

Trying to exchange our US dollars at the hotel reception was an interesting experience. I knew from research that pristine dollar bills are preferred. I held back my pristine dollars to see what the exchange rate would be for my slightly worn bills. In a nutshell, the staff flatly refused to exchange them, citing that no bank would accept them. It was clearly all theatre. After the tactic of trying to rattle us, a very poor rate of kyat was then offered. I felt fairly certain that I was being fed a line and smiled sweetly before touring all of the hotels in the area to get a better deal. Which we did. Generally in our experience you will receive less kyat for more worn dollars but the rate the hotel were offering was very poor.

I would happily return to this hotel. It is well situated being located close to some of the sights of Yangon and also close by to some fantastic Indian eateries as well as western hotels to grab a couple of cool beers in during the happy hour! Yangon is a fabulous city to explore, enjoy!

A last minute booking into this hotel through agoda, as I had a problem with my original reservation. Centrally located, behind the Traders hotel, a 10-15 min walk from there to China town. The hotel is located in a back street, that looks a bit seedy (and is smelly), but no issues with security whatsoever. Just don't expect a glitzy surrounding.

Had a single bed room the size of a shoe box, even though I had booked a double, but was too tired to go complain and change. As others have noted, the sheets are plastic and not nice. The room was very humid and the smell from the street seemed to have made its way inside, the only way to suppress the smell for the night was to keep the aircon going the whole night. All in all, nothing to talk home about, except it's a budget solution (~$90 for the night in a city where 5* properties were going for $300around the dates i was there) at a convenient location.

Best thing about the hotel was the staff, extremely friendly, smiling and willing to help you. I left some postcards with them to mail, let's see if these make their way to the addressees.

Hotel location is convinient for sight seeing of major attaractions in Yangon, but hotel is situated in a narrow dark road, many taxi drivers also dont have any idea about hotels location.
Hotel rooms are small in size but very clean. Bathroom is the smallest bathroom i have seen in any hotel. On the positive side staff is very helpful. Hotel do not have restaurant but there are some cheap restaurants serving good food nearby this hotel.

extremely clean but tiny rooms. We were at the end of our trip so this was the cleanest room we had experienced (even if the most expensive).
Anyway, location is great, closed to Bogyoke Aung San Market, easy to find taxi and place where to eat. Very convenient to follow the walking tour suggested by lonely planet which we liked a lot.
did not really like the synthetic bed sheets

Room Tip: we did not have breakfast included which it's far too expensive (USD 5/each)
