I booked this hotel because many hotels I initially planned to book were unavailable. I chose this hotel since it's newer and the room and overall amenities looked ok from the photos, at least better than guest house in that price range. Airport to this hotel taxi fare was $15-17. I found one outside airport and paid $10. Hotel to the must-see pagoda $3, pagoda to national museum $2, museum to inya lake $4, lake back to hotel $4. Bad location in the container and truck area along Yangon river mixed with residential. A little bit far from the city hub but close to the pagoda. I only spent 1 full day for sightseeing and went by taxi anyway so distance was not my major concern. Outside the hotel it was not pleasant but inside it's ok. Staff spoke ok English but very friendly and helpful. Breakfast so so. Room clean and spacious with window facing a tree view on 4th floor. A bit noisy during the day but quiet at night. In Yangon a hotel within the price range is hard to find, this one deliver reasonable quality in terms of service and accommodation. Hotel Internet 1st night only at lobby, but 2nd nite room Internet worked. We just checked in thante u in bagan, hotel 63 service much better.

Arrived via Yangon airport(where the ATM accepts all western cards) and negotiated a 5000 kyat taxi ride to the 63. The journey is approx 30 mins and great value for $6, the driver did struggle to find the 63 but we got there eventually.
Very surprised by some of the negative comments, my experience was only of a positive nature. Yes the hotel is in an industrial area due to its proximity to the docks and whilst the main road is quite bumpy you can enter and exit the hotel from the side road which is fine. There are lots of bars and restaurants close by if you exit left up to the dock road. Getting around by Taxi is so cheap that location is not an issue, a trip to Shwedagon Paya is $3 and from there you can walk to the Kandawsyi nature park and central station etc.
The staff and the Manager are always on hand and speak very good English, mosquitos could be an issue but a Mozi coil worked fine for me.

When our taxi driver entered the approach road, I assumed that my death was imminent: a road surface more akin to a rutted lake, almost no street lighting, parked container lorries, and a shanty-town feel made it feel like we had driven into the set of a Mad Max movie.
However, once inside, the story is a little different. Apart from the moth balls, and Europeans who seem to be on chain-smoking-holidays, the atmoshpere is quite pleasant in the lobby. The Burmese take on customer service kicks in, everyone is polite and smiling, and one is shown to the rooms. More surreality, as most of the floor space (of all of the rooms we saw) are turned over to a wooden shin-height platform on which the beds and tables reside, making navigation around the rooms a challenge. The rooms were clean but rather tired, and of the six showers I took in this hotel, only one was in water hotter than body temperature.
On the plus side, the restaurant is apparently open 24 hours a day (untested), and serves decent food, and the Reception staff were helpful in assisting us find our future accommodation, and best of all, you can book using an on-line agent and use a credit card!
To sum up, you will not want to leave the hotel on foot, but once you are inside, it's not too bad.

Room Tip: There probably aren't any.

As many others have said, this is one of the lower cost options available on agoda, and therefore payable by credit card. That is why I booked this hotel.

The room looks nothing like the photographs on the website, but the photographs were far from appealing, so thats not a big issue. My room has an elevated floor upon which a mattress is placed. There are some mosquito's, some flys, lots of truck noise, and at times bad odors in the room. Room cleaning is a hit or miss thing, out of 4 days, we experienced it once.

Location of the hotel, well its terrible. Not really to much of an issue as a taxi can be called rather quickly to get away.

Positive factors would be the wifi, decent speeds and its free. Staff are very nice. While the bathrooms are not very beautiful, there is abundant hot water. Air conditioning works. Tv with some english channels.

Would i return? I would rather not, but if other options are taken, I suppose I would come back as it is survivable. Just keep your expectations low and you should be ok.

When coming back from the west coast of Myanmar this was the only hotel we could find that wasn't full. So we didn't stay here by choice. The hotel seems fairly new. Our room was okay but the location of the hotel was terrible. It is in an industrial area near the port. Trucks park out the back of the hotel and load and unload cargo 24 hours a day. It was raining heavily whilst we were there and there was almost a moat around the hotel. It was impossible to walk anywhere. The food in the hotel was ordinary to say the least. Only use this hotel as a last resort.

Room Tip: Look at rooms before accepting

Yangon was the last stop for my 2 friends and I on our weeklong journey through Myanmar. Everywhere we had stayed was lovely, even in simple budget stays. We booked at Hotel 63 due to the need to book online after running low on acceptable USD for exchange (very picky about crisp bills here!!). Our experience was less than satisfactory. The first room we were given was full of bugs and mosquitoes-- so many that we had to ask for a change of room. Even after changing, the new room smelled strongly of moth balls and cigarette smoke, as there are many guests smoking in their rooms. The location is on an unpaved road in a slum area. Not too far from the business district, but too far to walk anywhere and no food anywhere nearby. Can do MUCH better for the price elsewhere, just have to be willing to pay in cash. If having difficulty booking online elsewhere, just call the hotel or guesthouse to make an advance booking rather than relying on this spot as the cheapest via Agoda.

I stayed at a different hotel for 4 days before discovering Hotel 63. The first hotel cost twice as much as Hotel 63, was run-down, beat up and with an awful room and bed.
For less than 1/2 the price of the other place Hotel 63 gave me a living room, kitchenette with rice cooker, hot plate & frying pan, tea kettle, bowls, etc., a quiet bedroom with new bed, two air conditioners and a gorgeous marble, huge bathroom!
What appealed to me most (as if that were not enough) was how wonderful the staff is -- Receptionist Thet Thet Aung, Han May Soe and Yan Ling Aung made sure I was well taken care of and comfortable. Thank you for all your help!
