HI I stayed one night here. I am glad that it was only one night. The room I was in was in the front of the hotel. The walls were dirty and marked up. The carpet was old and stained, but was clean enough. The bathroom was clean and plenty of hot water, but it was dark. The hotel is just very tired and needs a remodel. The walls are very thin and you hear everything. IT does quiet down at night , so youcan get some sleep.
It wasn't great , but it wasn't the worst I stayed at in Myanmar. The location is good for shopping and stores are close by for purchasing snacks, water, etc......

Our room was in need of a refurb, although I believe they are doing this - bit dirty, dingy and damp-stained wallpaper.
However, it is easy, popular and centrally located.
I booked online through hoteltravel dot com and got the room for $25pn. Cheaper than walkin or booking with them directly. If I had more time I would book with a local travel agent so they get the commission.
Would recommend Thamadar over this although it is about 7mins further out.
Breakfast is awful though here...

A very dingy hotel with dingier rooms. Very basic and for a first night's stay in Myanmar, I was very dissapointed. The location is very good for wondering around downtown, but after that, I would suggest finding a cleaner and more upscale place with some breathing space outside.

There is nothing fancy and a lot funky about this unpretentious but practical and extremely well located and inexpensively priced hotel. Ask for a quiet room when you reserve to avoid the din floating up to the outside facing rooms. The staff is very, very obliging and patient and helpful, and they have a great sense of humor. This is not a hotel for prestige, or history, or luxury, it's simply a very comfortable, very agreeably priced, very hospitably operated and very simple place, in a very good location. The staff gets to know you quickly and you feel very safe and at home with them. I would not recommend the one day tour they offer of suburban Yangon and the island temple (ending in a dreary, half-baked minority culture open air park - yuch) though - too much else in Myanmar to enjoy.
