“Not 5 star”

Stayed here twice on a whirlwind ( re:exhausting) pre arranged tour agency trip. The rooms were a bit tired and worn. The restaurant was imho overpriced and harshly lit with mediocre food. The staff tried their best ( as most Burmese do) however to make things work so points to them. Love the people but not the place itself.

Room Tip: Found it hard to get a non smoking room.Got one but was told the Chinese love to smoke so there are...

The room is as per my expectation for a 4 star hotel. It is not so clean, but still acceptable. Free wifi is available in the room with good speed. Breakfast was nice, they have good mix of food from western and local food. Location is central and convenient, some restaurants are within walking distance.

I'd had reservation to check in this hotel for my VIPs when I found that it's under renovation with all the front entrance blocked and noise filled the reception area during the working hours. Failed to secure the same number of rooms during the high season, we moved in, though, with unexpected satisfaction and pleasant experience.

First, my VIPs were welcomed elaborately in a function room with cocktails and flower petals out of my expectation. (I don't know how they smelt out the status of my VIPs through our communication). It's impressive enough. And they had pre-arranged the allocation of the rooms exactly as I had requested in my email sent just a few hours before, better than most of my experience in the most efficient hotels in many top cities. The Duty Manager was obviously more competent and professional than the other staff, (who were also friendly as most Myanmars) dealing with our special requests wearing the welcoming smile all the time, and proactively gave me the mobile number of the Manager for any special request.

I was impressed that they have blocked out the rooms under 4th floor because of the possible noise from the renovation works on the ground floor. And remembered to check again if there was any noise problem in our rooms, and any expectation to change a room, etc. The premier suites are spacious enough with a small kitchen, but the furnishing and decoration is not that luxurious, leaving some areas quite empty and some furniture kind of worn. The interior decoration in the lobby reveals the same standard actually, which may disappoint some people who expect more for its price. In comparison, standard rooms are more promising. And I don't know why we had standard rooms with complimentary mini-bar while my VIPs' suites were not offered the same.

The breakfast is the best we had in Myanmar, with a lot of choices for vegetarians and others, with a very up-to-standard interior and service. The location of the hotel is also better than those in downtown, with a little more relaxing neighbourhood while keeping a convenient distance to the attractions like the Shwedagon and Bogoyok Market.

The renovation was over when we moved in the second day. It deserves the price better without the noise of the renovation now, but more renovation is expected if the hotel aims at more competitiveness.

Room Tip: Some rooms are quite far from the only elevator, maybe up to 100-120m? Request if your family or fri...

Quite a few things went wrong. First they always tell you they have upgraded your room for free and especially for you.... Heard them saying that to other customers as well... The room is ok, but below the standard of the other hotels we had in myanmar.

but the WORSE is the swimming pool, they allow people to smoke on a few tables. With the wind, it smells all over the swimming pool. most customers were hiding their nose. For us it was 4men smoking cigars, which seem widely smoked here.

Luggages took a long time to come to the room.

Anyway, it was my last day in
Myanmar, I was hoping to relax at the pool and it was truly horrible.

The guy working at the bar got the order wrong, and order 3 times the same meal and charged us. Nobody at the swimming pool bar can speak any word of English. Even not the basics.

During the day the renovation noise was very loud - couldn't hear much in the reception area - if the rates aren't heavily cut while the renovation is incomplete they should be. However, we were "upgraded" to a "Premier" room because our "Deluxe" wasn't ready rather than asked to wait although we were a little early. We were surprised to find that room service prices were less than in the Brasserie. Food was good. Comfortable kingsize bed. Shower over bath (wish hotels would switch to safer shower recesses). Had to be very careful placing shower curtain to avoid flooding the floor. Warning - the door opened towards the toilet - without care it would be too easy to smash your partner's toes, feet, legs. Only one bathrobe was provided but reception apologised nicely. Spa centre in hotel masseurs gave excellent massages - really worked my muscles well.

Room Tip: Some floors are designated "Non-smoking" so avoid the "Smoking" floors unless yo...

Stayed here for one night. A short cab trip into the downtown area and within walking distance of the main temple in Yangon. Some rooms even have a view of it.
The rooms are very comfortable and up to Western standard.
There is a very nice pool at the back and a fitness centre. Didn't eat in the restaurant but opposite - across the main road - is a very good and reasonably priced Chinese restaurant.
