Reviewed May 18, 2013

We spent five nights in this hotel and had a great time.

The staff were super ..very friendly including managers. Best service was at the restaurant all the days we were there ...and they didn't seem interested in tips. The concierge team was great too , the reception staff seemed busy always so not much interaction.

The best thing about this hotel was the food, we ate even when we did not feel hungry just for the experience. There was always alot of option at the buffet..Indian (the best very tasty) ...Japanese , Chinese , Italian and of course Myanmar cuisine. The ala carte food was also good, very tasty. Outside there were few options ...we tried some but went back to the hotel main restaurant. Breakfast was good ...could do with a live pancake section ..though its available.

The rooms were satisfactory , comfortable, clean , spacious , has cabled internet and wireless too, mini bar, ironing facility, tea/coffee, large tv..all you would need is there. There is a Spa , pool , gym but we did not use them.

The location is good, not too far from the airport and near shops for shopping , also very close to General Aung San shopping center , just five minutes.

Nice lobby bar, nice conference facility and also a very nice international club in the hotel with different performances . While we were there we found a excellent inhouse band ...there is interesting twist to this band ..check them out. There is also other options of clubs nearby...

The hotel has beautiful display of paintings ...available for sale.

All in all we had a great time at Parkroyal...would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel like most in Yangon is over priced. The hotel is seriously in need of an upgrade and there are surely reasons why the owners have not spent any money on the hotel yet they are surely reaping in significant profit at current rates.

Breakfast is very average three star at best. The quality of the food is sub standard.

Give this one a miss!

Room Tip: Don't bother with the suites as the space is basically two interconnecting rooms.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights on a business trip. The hotel itself offers a good quality of accommodation: rooms are well appointed (if only slightly dated bathrooms) with big screen TV, minibar and ample seating/workspace. The lobby offers good quality wifi, and the lobby bar is suitable for informal meetings. The swimming pool area is comfortable and there is a large fitness area should you need it. The location is on the north edge of the Downtown area, so heading south leads directly to Traders Hotel & the commercial area. Limited quality options for food or beverages outside of the surrounding hotel bars & restaurants. Good option discovered was Cafe 365 in the ground floor of the hotel opposite the Park Royal (the Thamada) which offered a good variety of decent-priced food and drinks. I didnt try the breakfast but enjoyed fresh pastries from a cafe counter in the lobby (approx. USD $2 for a danish/crossant). Generally found the Park Royal to be very comfortable and suitable for both business and leisure travel. It is a 30-45 minute walk to the Shew Dagon pagoda, so bear this in mind if that is your sole purpose for being in Yangon.

The hotel is nice, clean and friendly. The hotel is over-priced by the standard of the room we had but most of the hotels in Yangon are way over priced. That being said we had a nice stay. The pool and fitness room are good and the restaurant food was delicious. I would stay there again. WIFi was included in our room. We had a "delux room" but I would not have rated it as such by world standards. Nice sheets on the bed. The location of the hotel is great for walking about the city if you can take the heat.

We made pre arranged booking through our travel agency due lower rates. Check in was a joke as they could not find our booking. This happened through my several members of the group checked in through different time and days. Anyway friendly staff. WIFI was not free but with luck you might be able to get the universal passwords upon check in.

Refurbished room of the Parkroyal Yangon felt comfortable and good quality. Cleanliness and sleep quality were very good.

Breakfast were in great varieties though nothing was really tasty. However, Chinese and Japanese restaurant on the 2nd floor were excellent and highly recommended. Lobby bar was busy and good daily happy hour. Bar was busy and interesting but could be noisy to some.

Overall a very good alternative to the other big 3 in Yangon.

After three weeks of hot footing it in Myanmar, trekking, temples, pagodas, cycling and sleeping in hostels, we decided to splash out a tad when in Yangon. Unbeknown to us booking accommodation and flights to take us from Hsipaw to Yangon at the Chinese festival would be really difficult!

Between the travel team at Mr Charles guest house in Hsiapw and Extissimo Travel consultants in Yangon, we finally secued both with Park Royal being only one of a few hotels able to offer us three days straight at this busy time of the year. Whilst a bit more than we had anticipated our final few days costing us - we plumped for Park Royal.

We were NOT disappointed and what a treat in our final few days in Myanmar! The hotel staff upon arrival only too helpful. As we checked in for our room, I made mention that the airport transfer hadn't turned up nut no problem we were here now and looking forward to the rest. I had sent an e-mail by hit and miss wifi in Hsipaw and mentioned that possibly the team at Park Royal may not have received it - no dramas. Th reception team seemed disappointed this had heppened and before we knew it Front Office Manager, Hasitha Manthriratne, was attending to us. We were upgraded to a premier suite. I did explain that perhaps the e-mail never got to the reservation staff - however he was only too happy for us to be given the upgrade. We were DELIGHTED!

Our room on the sixth floor, looked down over the pool area - very nice! With endless hot water and pressure from the shower reminnescent of a fire hose... we were delighted. The door bell rang and a bottle of wine, fine wine galsses and hand made tiny cakes on a slate arrived as compliments of the Manager. We felt like a King and Queen!

Fluffy white toweling robes, great plasma TV and all creature comforts.

Our experience of greatness continued with fantastic buffet breakfast offerings and evening meal options of restautants. Almost no reason to leave the hotel. Proximity to markest easy walking.

Finally we had purchased a hot pot to take back to Australia. After attempting to send it via DHL (way too expensive), mail (all too hard and not permitted), we had decided to take it back with us on the plane. I had asked the housekeeper if she had a big plastic bag that i could put it in.. I showed her what for.. next thing, she asked to take and reappeared some 20 mins later with it parcelled up i a box and securely wrapped! How fantastic! Hot pot mae it home safely to Australia!
