Amazing place food wise and location wise, little over prices we paid 400dollara for two nights and 20 dollars seperately for BF and then 10% service charges which is way way too over priced and even after that the day we left hotel we noticed 6 people (who we saw hanging out in lobby all day followed us in two cars which was by no means cool but of you looking for Internet( which I am sure in tampered by govt) you can hangout in lobby snf get 1.5 hour for 5 USD

Staff is helpful and courteous, rooms are big and clean well equipped and not much view still business center am health club are add ins in got summer

Good and central place to see the important sites of Yangon. The staff was very friendly, and the food excellent. The receptionists were sometimes not professional.
Unfortunately, during our stay, the 21st floor with the Club-Lounge was under construction. Therefore, there was quite a bit of noise. Fortunately, we have been there during the first days of the year, where less construction was done. When coming back to Yangon after three weeks, works were indeed going on quite heavily, but not during the night.

Room Tip: The hotel has an L-shape, the rooms with a good view being only those on the outside of the L.shape...

I liked Traders a lot because it had everything we needed, without the frills: ie. nice clean rooms, fast wifi, a great breakfast buffet spread, decent gym, good pool, relatively efficient staff and its in a convenient location. We were touring myanmar for eight days for our honeymoon, and Traders was our first stop in Yangon. It left a good impression. We were able to explore the local markets and downtown by foot which was enjoyable. The hotel also gave me a bunch of flowers as a honeymoon gift which I thought was a nice touch.

On our last day in Yangon, we actually stayed at the famous Strand Hotel, but honestly, I could have easily returned to Traders. The Strand is indeed historic, luxurious and v. pricey, but it didn't have basic facilities like a gym/pool on site which was disappointing for me.

Very well-appointed 5 star hotel with all amenities right in the center of the city. The rooms were very well appointed and comfortable and the place was spotlessly clean. Not inexpensive but it is, I understand, primarily a business hotel. Breakfast buffet was extensive, pool area was very nice. They had a "happy hour" for residents of the Club Rooms which was well done with dlicious snack food.

The Traders Hotel is in a central location in Yangon. It's been newly renovated but service can be iffy! Housekeeping and service in breakfast room were excellent. The front desk service and doorman are iffy. This stupid requirement by the hotel to have new dollar bills if they are to make change will eventually stop...but when? Yea, yea I know it's a practice in most parts of the countryside of Myanmar but this is the big city and it makes no sense. They don't actually check for counterfeits with a pen or look at any of the features to prevent counterfeiting. Instead they just want them new and crispy and only Big Heads. Even though we had newer bills they refused them until we went up to the room and ironed them. Watch out for the taxi service called at the front entrance, some will take you for more than a ride. They should screen these guys. Hotel isn't cheap because of all the business people flocking to Yangon but eventually it will drop to more appropriate prices.

Room Tip: Watch out for the taxis and the doormen.

This is my 4th stay in 10 years (8 days) in what is essentially a business hotel and the service & food remains excellent. Although just 30 minutes from the airport, it took over an hour because of the traffic/road improvements. It’s in central Yangon within walking distance of Scott Market & 15 minutes in a taxi of the magnificent Swedagon pagoda, so a great location. Going from a reclusive state where travellers could get a bargain to a more open society, prices are now more in keeping with elsewhere in the region – ie at least double to what I paid previously. I believe the hotel has many vacancies so if you’re watching the pennies, I’d suggest turning up & negotiating your price rather than pre-booking. I was able to use the reliable & free Wi-Fi anywhere in the building. Very recent room renovations giving the hotel a fresh/new outlook.
I wanted to spend a night in Kyaiktiyo to see the Golden Rock, and there was no problem checking out back in a day later. All in all a good choice or if you’re on expenses.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better.

Ran by Shangrila group, on a recent trip, I stayed at Traders Hotel, visiting it the first time after 8 yrs. Many parts of the common areas have been renovated, with rooms to be upgraded in 2013.

Coming back to Traders was like visiting an old friend. Breakfast spread was impressive, although I found the porridge offered a bit too runny for my liking. Internet access in the room was decent, considering the infrastructure issues in the country. Although I experienced a power trip duing my one night stay there, the backup electricity kicked in within seconds. Hotel bill can be paid by Visa or Mastercard, but you will need to pay 4% surcharge.Hopefully when Visa has a permanent presence, such surcharge and wider acceptance of credit cards will be possible in Myanmar. Meanwhile, do arm yourself with cash (USD) if it is your first visit.

With many people visiting Yangon for business and leisure, price pressure and room availability will be an issue for a while. Still, Traders hotel would be my choice, due to the upgrading and great staff at helm.
