“Living at Inya Lake Hotel for 8 months”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Inya Lake Hotel is placed in a heavenly spot. Surrounded by green fields and gorgeous even greener trees, being here is like being in paradise! Not to forget the lake and the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
I have lived in Inya for the past 8 months and the staff has always been friendly, courteous and extra helpful. From the concierge, to the waiters and the cleaning stuff, everyone always has a smile on and will greet you with a very warm "Mingalabar" :)
Soon Inya will no longer be my home and will definitely miss it very much!

Room Tip: Rooms with lake views are worth paying for!

Inya Lake Hotel is magic.
It is absolute lakefront.
Watch fishermen emerging from the lake's morning mist, as you wake to phenomenal birdsong.
Then at night, enjoy fireflies dancing on the lake shore, serenaded by chirping frogs.
This is paradise.

Room Tip: Ask for lake outlook.

Inya Lake Hotel is like a second home to me whenever I visit Yangon. The employees are friendly, courteous and always on hand to help. The wonderful "old world" architecture, lakeside scenery and lush spacious gardens offers "peace and quiet" environment not available elsewhere in this charming city!

Room Tip: Lake view is best. Mountain view is second choice. Rooms near the elevators are more noisy than ones...

One of the best hotels to stay while in Yangon...especially if you are a frequent visitor. I have now been to Yangon 4-5 times and have stayed at some of the other five star hotels but nothing like the Inya Lake hotel. The location is perfect and has a mix of old world charm that one would want to see after having stayed in so many other modern hotels. More than everything, it is the warmth and hospitality of all the staff that makes you feel so welcome. Their Sunday Buffet is also fantastic.

Room Tip: The Deluxe rooms for $10 more are really large and great value for money.

When I first reach this hotel, I was given a welcome drink and then the friendly front office staff together with bellboy brought me to my deluxe room. Wow, I was given a big room and best of all, I was given the room with a view of the lovely inya lake.

The bathroom is also huge and it definitely suit my criteria due to my huge frame. But I must say that the bathtub is a bit inconvenient for me as I need to "climb" to it as it is higher than usual. Other than that, I would say it is well equipped with clean big towel that I can wrap over my body.

I took a walk around the inya lake and was enjoying the breeze and greenery. This is a big compound with lawns and lot of trees.

Facilities are pretty standard for a hotel and I think the hotel room rate is reasonable as compared to the steep prices charged by some other hotels.

Room Tip: It is best to have a room with the view of Inya Lake

I like the hotel, the history and the tranquility. This is not a hotel which you will WOW as it is not new but it is the setting, the people and the overall experience that makes the difference. Then you can have the best view of the Inya Lake and some of the best air quality.

Room Tip: Ask for lake view room!

This hotel was the best hotel in its heyday. Granted, it's now lost a bit of lustre, as the rooms are in need of a good make over. However you will find the service warm and friendly, the ambiance welcoming and the food of a very good quality. All contributing towards what is in essence a high standard service. Once the rooms are refurbished and renovated to its original high standard, it will resume its position as one of the best hotels in Yangon again.

My family and I stayed in one of their family suites, well situated on one of the higher floors, and at one of the corners of the building, affording very good views. It was spacious, comfortable and was perfect for our requirements. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms OK and clean, but in appearance didn't seem so as they could have done with re-grouting and new silicone sealant along the baths! Again it was a case of needing an over haul.

The staff were fantastic and gracious always. They were very observant to the needs of their guests and keen to please.

We made good use of their facilities; enjoyed their good size swimming pool and the tennis courts. The property is romantically located on the banks of Inya Lake itself and is the only hotel in Yangon which has such an expansive garden. Despite what many might think it's actually very accessible to the centre of town being approximately 10-15 mins drive in, but this of course is dependent on the traffic and time of day. It was actually great to get away from the built up and now quite polluted city centre at the end of the day. Very convenient also when you need to take a flight out the next day as you won't be stuck in traffic trying to get out from the centre.

If you can by pass the dated furniture, you can enjoy a comfortable stay before the prices rocket once it does get a full face lift!

M.T.
