Probably the nicest Pagoda in Yangon. Very popular with tourists and locals. We went in later afternoon so much cooler then and enjoyed sunset there and seeing the lights.

Very close (walking distance) from Chaukhtatgyi Paya you walk up a long terraced flight of stairs (take off your shoes before you climb) and are greeted by an English speaking guard who will escort you to the desk where you hand over $2 entry fee which included a welcome bottle of cold water. Like Chauktatgyi there are not many people here and I was the only foreigner. The seated Buddha is huge and and quite impressive with an ornate carved wooden rear screen. Very peaceful place with a couple of other small pagodas on site. I much preferred the atmosphere here relative to Chaukhtatgyi.

Many missed this sight because it is not well covered compared to other landmarks in the city. The Buddha was built at the same time as the Reclining Buddha in Chaukhtatgyi Paya, and the Buddha reflect yet another aspect of the amazing Reclining Buddha. The wooden temple that housed the Buddha is a great place to have a sit and feel the calm of the Burmese City with the Buddha looking over everyone in the temple.

This pagoda and Buddha image is actually quite easy to find. If one visits the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, the Ngar Htat Gyi Pagoda is right across the street! (and also on Shwe Gon Daing Rd).
It's here that you'll see a unique element incorporated into this Buddha image. He has what are called "magites" (or armor like objects) protruding from his head, shoulders and arms.
The site also has this really cool Buddha painting which begins as a whole procession of his disciples in a line. Then at one point the line from the painting turns into real statues of the disciples and then with Buddha in the front of the procession. A very cool creation though.

The temple also had a number of different display scenes depicting Buddha and was worth a look too.
