An enormous, attractive, reclining Buddha, only 50 years old, well worth the trip. There is a viewing platform at the foot end, giving good views of the amazing carving of 108 panels with apparently major significance in Buddhism on the soles of thestatue's feet.

Different then reclining buddhas that you may have seen in Thailand - and less crowded. It won't take too much time to wander around. There are a few tourist shops outside that were surprisingly reasonably priced, in case you need a trinket or two

This was worth the side trip to see. It is gigantic reclining Buddha which is cleaned constantly; it takes a week to completely remove the dirt and then the workers begin the cycle again. They were cleaning the face while we were there and so one gets a sense of proportion. There is a good viewing platform at the feet.
You can give a small tip to the guy who may be watching your shoes. There are toilets but we did not use them. Not crowded while we were there. Taxi drivers know where the site is. Road contraction nearby may result in the driver asking a little extra for the trip.
There are shops outside the site to buy souvenirs but they were very laid back compared to other places.

Worth the stop to see this gigantic reclining Buddha. Make sure you walk all around it, and pay attention to the signs telling you the dimensions and also look at the feet. Impressively huge. There are some souvenir stands out front, but no pressure.

There are totally 8 reclining Buddha images in Myanmar. Chauk Htet Kyi Pagoda is one of among them. One thing good for tourist is you no need to pay any money to entrance there. But, when you keep your shoes at counter , you should donate some money for that pagoda. Make sure , you learned about foot print of Buddha there.
