Well-maintained & full of stimulating sights. It also can be a good place to watch Myanmar families during their Sunday visits Not on everyone's site list; perhaps it should be

“A short walk from our hotel”

Botataung was the first Pagoda we saw in Myanmar. It is impressive - lots of gold! Lots of stalls on the road leading to the pagoda with interesting offerings for visitors to buy.

“Smaller pagoda but not inferior”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2012

I bet all tourists were in the Shwedagon because when I went here there were not a lot of people. Foot wear was not allowed. You can leave it in the room at the entrance or put it in your bag. There was an area with gilded walls protected by glass and another area where they have the sacred relic from the Buddha (tooth, hair). It was nice to see people in deep prayer and not be bothered by a swarm of tourists. The visit was a nice prelude to Shwedagon.

The inside of the pagoda is simply super amazing. All the gold and glitters will definitely capture your heart.
