“More gold”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2012

Within the wall of this temple is a sacred hair of the Buddha. It is a small temple designed for deep meditation. It is possible to see the glass enclosure where the sacred hair is kept.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2012

We visited in February on a particularly hot day - it's worth getting inside just to get out of the heat. There is a visitor booth in a portacabin type box room to the right of the front entrance. Go inside and pay your entrance fee ($5 per person); you can leave your shoes in there too if you prefer.

Lots of little separate buildings to see within the complex as well as the hollow temple you can walk round inside. There is a well in the middle behind bars where people throw money for good luck. In the outer gardens there are lots of shaded areas and statues dotted about. There is also a little covered walkway leading to a small temple and either side of the walkway is a pond filled with terrapins (some quite large).

As with any other temple, be aware that in the middle of a sunny day the paving outside gets particularly hot. Stick to the ceramic tiles for the most comfortable walk.

“Small, interesting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2012

Small, almost maze-like in getting to the centre where the hair relic is contained. If you are claustrophobic you won't like it. The Buddha, walls, collections are all behind glass which make photos hard to take, especially in the limited space and if locals and other tourists are coming through. It's one of the few stupas that one actually can enter. Interesting neighbourhood.

“That's amazing”

Really ancient pagoda, I couldn't believe myself when I got there. Although I heard that pagoda name before. It's full of the background of myanmar country and reflects the traditional cultures.
