“A good place for the solo traveller”

This is reasonably priced hotel in a great location. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The service in this hotel is excellent. The shower set up is interesting, but I was on my own so it didn't matter. Breakfast was basic but adequate. I would recommend this hotel based on price, service and location.

Room Tip: Be aware that there isn't a separate shower room / bathroom, it is in the bedroom and offers lit...

Accommodation in Yangon is expensive. The East Hotel provides a nice option, not too pricey and centrally located. The service is good. The rooms are a bit on the small side but clean. As mentioned in most reviews the bathrooms are not very private which wasn't a problem for us but may be for others. The best part about the hotel is the location. Many of the downtown attractions are within walking distance.

We stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be a great hotel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with a nice bed and plently of hot water and tea and coffee. We had a room at the front with great views over Yangon. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfasts were good with a decent selection. They also have free bottled water which is handy in the Yangon heat.

Comfortable bed, friendly staff. Overall a good place to stay – However if your sharing a room, I hope you know your companion well as there is no separate bathroom so expect your morning ablutions to be overheard! The breakfast is just about passable. However overall a good well priced option in the heart of downtown.

On my second stay at the east I took the city-view room. My only additional comment would not to bother getting the more expensive ‘city view’. You get a couple more windows which is OK but you don’t get a better view. Furthermore the shower is even more odd than the standard room, its a glass box in the middle of the room. So unless you’re a voyeur there is not much value-added.

Room Tip: Don't bother with the city-view

The hotel's in a great location in Central Yangon, the beds are comfy and the rooms are clean. The staff are helpful and the bottled water free, so all in all it's a good place to stay if you're just looking for somewhere to rest your head. However, the showers are cold and in a strange glass box in the middle of the room, and the toilet has no door! The breakfast is free, and it's a good job as I certainly wouldn't be happy to pay for it - it's just about edible. There's also nowhere to just sit and rest with a beer - there's a small terrace on the 10th floor, but no comfy chairs and no bar, other than that you have to sit in the breakfast area which isn't exactly relaxing, and you'll end up paying twice as much for a beer as you should do.

We stayed at he East on arriving in Yangon and again 2 weeks later for a couple days before leaving the countryThe rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating . They stored items for us while we went up country. The location is perfect in the city centre, near the market.

rooms are a bit small, but with good beds and clean. Complimentary bottled water, which is a good thing in humid hot Yangon.
Good location on Sule Pagoda rd. Close the the Irrawaddy river, the Sule Pagoda and Bogyoke Market. Staff are friendly and helpful and speak some english.
