More of a place to sleep over rather than to stay over, but hey, what was the original purpose of hotels? Breakfast was great, especially their egg fried rice. The hotel has done a good job servicing, but their faults are a result of the country's poor infrastructure and government policy. Although at 16 degress, the air con does not work at it's full potential due to limited power supply. Also, limited internet bandwidth due to government regulation makes business communication difficult. For those with the same complaint, do understand that it is not completely their fault....

Our group stayed at this hotel two nights at the beginning and one night at the end of our tour in Myanmar. The first night was noisy until midnight because of some Buddhist festivities nearby, but the other two nights were quiet. The hotel is clean and has all the main amenities. The personnel is courteous, but only the few people at the reception desk speak (a limited) English. Breakfast and dinner were of reasonable quality in terms of Burmese standards. For my last night in Myanmar I got a suite with a king size bed in the bedroom and an additional bed in the living room, two complete bathrooms, a nice balcony, two TV sets, etc, although I was by myself and I was not asked for any additional money.
In summary, this is a good hotel for one or two nights, especially if you want to be close to the airport for a flight the next day.

The BAD NEWS: It was alittle "worn" around the edges, i.e. mildew in tub, smelled alittle dank, cigarette smoke in hallway... The GOOD NEWS: Very close to the Yangon Airport...Staff was very nice...Room was clean...Hotel comps 2 bottles of water, shampoo & bar soap, no body lotion so bring your own... The hotel staff said the hotel was about a block away from a shopping mall, but we didn't make it over there... We got in late & left early - breakfast is included but we left before restaurant opened, so they were very accomodating in providing a box lunch, which included a sandwich, pastry, fruits & juice...Good value hotel.

As we were taking an early flight our travel agent booked us into the Hotel Yangon. I was impressed by their proffessionalism in booking us in and was very pleased with the room. I had asked for a quiet room and I was given the 10th Floor. We ate in the restaurant and we were one of 2 diners and we ordered I bowl of soup and then 2 maincourses. One main course was brought at the same time as the soup. We asked for it to brought with the other main course. Both fish dishes were hot and we had orderd fries for a change from rice or noodles but they were cold.
As previously mentioned the hotel is very close to the airport for an early morning flight.

we stayed there three times for one night each.
location: excellent to the airport (max 10 minutes), rather far from the city center (approx 25-30 minutes by car). We tried to hire a taxi to get us back from the city center (Sule pagoda) one night and had to ask 4 drivers until we found one who took us back. The other three either did not know the location or did not want to drive outside that far.
rooms: air condition, nice view, very, very loud (traffic from nearly all sides). not enough non-smoker-rooms (we got a smoker room two of the three times, one time we were able to change rooms to a non-smoker, the second time all non-smokers were full; some smoker rooms are very smelly). The rooms were ok, but no luxury. ok for one night, rather not for longer stays
breakfast: excellent! the best part of the hotel stay
Staff: very friendly.
In the lobby you will find some shops (souvenirs, body shop, for some reason furniture), if you need to stock up your provisions. Of course the prices are somewhat higher than at the markets (like Scott Market).
There is a spa with massages etc. in the hotel, but we did not try it out.

Room tip: ask for a non-smoker and dont forget your earplugs!
