We stayed at Alamanda Inn at the beginning of our holiday in Myanmar and for a night at the end.
Alamanda Inn has character - in the right way. It is set in a very pleasant garden and has an open air restaurant. Both rooms we stayed in were simply but tastefully decorated and were a good size, particularly the room we had on our return to Yangon. The first room was quite dark as three of the blinds were broken and couldn't be pulled up.
Breakfast was the best we had in Myanmar - yoghurt with fruit, a selection of fresh fruit, toast, fresh juice, tea or coffee and eggs or a pancake. Best of all, it is served in the courtyard restaurant. We didn't really appreciate the breakfast until the end of our holiday.
We ate in the restaurant on a few occasions and found some of the food to be very good (salads, bruschetta) and other quite ordinary (e.g. tagine) - and reasonably expensive.
It is located in a residential area (including embassy residencies) which is both good and bad. Good because it is quiet, bad because you have to take a taxi to get to any of the sights or if you want to eat anywhere else. But, taxis are cheap and easy to get.
Would we stay again? Definitely.More
