It is a wonderful place to visit. The pogoda complex is huge and spectacular, you can easily get a guide to learn about the pogoda and its history. Awesome place.
Very highly recommended!

Visited this Pagoda an important land mark on the itinerary of tourists. It is a huge complex. Foreigners have to pay an entry fee. It is a huge complex and if one has to see everything in detail, may require half-a day.

A visit to Shwedagon pagoda is a must when visiting Yangon. No, it is not an obligation, but it would be a pitty to be in the city with admiring this unique monument. Take your time to walk around several times. One time without making photos just to absorb the unique elements disclosed in front of your eyes. Then start making photos. If you want afterwards hire one of the guides to get a better idea about the history behind.

Wherever you are in Yangon, you will be drawn to Shwedagon. It is not only the sixty tonnes of gold plated on the main stupa as well as diamonds, rubies and other gems. It is not only the dozens of other temples and scores of Buddha statues. Most of all it is the fact that this is a living site. To describe something as the spirituall heart sounds cliched, but in this case it is true. Go there in the evening and the human pulse is even more evident. \the main structure is undergoing some renovation right now so scaffolding obscures part of the stupa, but don't let that put you off.

This is must see attraction in Yangon. It’s quite big and very nice in every details. You should plan a half day for it. It’s not only an amazing sight seeing but also a place you can understand stand more about Myanmar’s belief and culture.

We spent quite a few hours walking around all the site. There is so much to see-quite incredible. Everyone was extremely friendly and maybe not used to seeing blonde, blue eyed westerners as we had lots of pictures taken of us!!
We hired a guide who was ok. The language barrier is tricky and although she spoke good English we still had to really concentrate to understand what she was trying to tell us.
It was incredibly hot and we were delighted to find lots of fresh water available to fill up our bottle as we went around.
Unfortunately the Pagoda was having all the gold repaired so it was covered in bamboo scaffolding but it still looked very beautiful.
A must see.

We went to visit the Shwedagon Pagoda twice!! day time and night time. Thanks to the guide, we got to experiencing washing the Buddha at the corner’s of each of our birthdays. It’s truly a beautiful place with so much to learn and absorb, and definitely a breath-taking view from rooftops.
