We stayed in this budget hotel for one night. I think $50 per night in Yangon is relatively inexpensive believe it or not so it was not too much of a surprise to find that, although staff were delightful and eager to help, the room was not that great. As with many places in Yangon it was quite small, musty, quite old furniture and no view from window. Excellent wifi connection however, and a good breakfast. Bathroom was clean but 'interesting' - in terms of the wiring for the electric shower, and the plumbing was a bit DIY.

Great character though and, if I was on a budget I probably would stay there again as it was perfectly safe and friendly and clean.

Really worth considering for a safe. clean and cost effective Rangoon base. Staff very friendly and food acceptable though not five star. Check out Golden Harp taxis too for the best taxis staffed by former political prisoners

We stayed at the Winner Inn in May 2012. The hotel is basic and the rooms drab but clean and the staff were cheerful and helpful. The room had a small fridge, tv and aircon that was quiet. The hotel is in a good location as it is within walking distance of restaurants and the pagoda. Avoid the hotel restaurant as the food was not good! Like all hotels in Rangoon, the Winner was over priced but we had a pleasant stay!

Very friendly hotel in a quiet location. Overpriced like most mid range Yangon hotels and in need of a refurbishment, BUT everything functioned. Our cheaper room had the quietest aircon I have found. There was a small fridge, hot shower, limited TV, kettle, internet access and provision to minimise the effect of many power cuts all over Myanmar. We stayed twice having travelled elsewhere in Myanmar in between and were warmly welcomed back. Improvements are ongoing. While Myanmar's accommodation is in woefully short supply for visitors these hotels cannot be reviewed by usual international standards of value. Many establishments in Yangon charge a lot more than $60 for a similar standard.

Lonely Planet rave about it they call it 'posh backpackers' - quiet with lovely communal areas. Really? Some confusion. It was quiet but labarithyne corridors. felt very claustraphobic. Dont know where we would have 'flopped down' even if we'd had the time.
Our room at the back smelled mildewy. A/C only worked by precarious means. Pillows abysmal. Dining/breakfastroom, small over varnished and sterile. Chinese owners(?) Efficient, helpful but no personality...but I was feeling ill at this point. At $80 certainly the cheapest place we stayed.

Room Tip: avoid room at furthest end of corridor!

for 60 usd I would expect a little bit more.

the breakfast is very basic, nescafe and 2 slices of toast is not really much, the location is not too bad but the bathroom is old, the beds are not really new and the tv set features about 5 channels, with only 2 of them in english.

the laundry service is extremely expensive as well as the slow internet for 1000 kyat the hour is not always working.

sad to see that myanmar hotel prices have to be like this

Yangon is entering the 21st century rapidly. With it comes overpriced accommodations and not bad travel experiences. Here is a place that is basic, well located, friendly staff and affordable. Internet, cable TV with CNN, bottled water, a hot shower...hey this is Myanmar. Breakfast was a bit sparse; it would be great to have brewed coffee! A decent restaurant almost across the street in the Sakura apartment building. Did I mention affordable? Until the other hotels come to the senses with a better price, this is my place.
