Great place if you are shoppers. The hotel is next to a great shopping mall. Transport is easy. Grab taxies are always there to take you to/from places. Spacious place for breakfast with beautiful lake view.

Excellent Good performance
I was once again at the Melia Hotel and had a very good time. I am very satisfied with the many improvements in the service. I particularly appreciate the large rooms and the wooden floor, as I find the carpet very "dirty" and it makes breathing difficult.
So thank you Melia, I felt like at home.

The room was extremely big where I enjoyed a lot spacious. It was very clean and tidy. My room has a Shwedagon view which is beautiful.

Breakfast was great with wide variety but I am personally do not like the taste. However it's clean.

Stayed here for 5D4N for my business trip. Room is large and comfy. However, during these 4N, the electricity trips in the middle of the night which causes the aircon to be switch off. I woke up being sweaty and uncomfortable because of that. Didn't have a good night sleep at all!
Breakfast and lunch in the marketplace was good on the first day. But the following days after, the food standard seems to drop as there was closure of certain areas like the japanese section (good sashimi on first day. then no more). Again, didn't really enjoy the food.
Having said that, the staff were great and friendly.

Dear aska215,

Warmest greeting from Melia Yangon.

First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us on TripAdvisor.

We are glad to read such a positive comment about our room that made you comfortable.

Allow me to apologize for the electricity cut off which is controlling by Yangon Electricity Supply Cooperation. As you might be aware of, the electricity grid in Yangon is constantly being improved to a more modern technology; nevertheless the entire city still faces some electricity problems regularly. Due to this, all modern buildings have a back-up generator to offer electricity when the main power is down. Nevertheless, this caused the AC and it has to restart sometime when power back to normal. Our engineering team was immediately corrected upon receiving the information from the guests.

Regarding your comment about our buffet restaurant, we are certain both the standard of food and selection of items are on par with other 5-star hotels in Yangon. As mentioned, we truly believe to offer one of the best F&B selections in town and are proud in offering a varied international buffet as daily.

Once again, please accept my deepest apologies and thank you very much for your complement words to our staff for their the extraordinary effort.

We look forward to have a chance in welcoming you back to create another better experience in near future.

Best regards,
Paul Zaw Myu Nan

This large hotel had good service from polite staff but the best things were the nice bright spacious room with large window and the excellent breakfast. The room had its own shower area, although the water from the shower managed to escape easily and wet the floor outside, and the breakfast was truly comprehensive and provided a great selection of food to get the day off to a great start. Overall a hotel I would certainly return during any Yangon visit.

Room tip: Lake side no doubt best. I was on the opposite side and looked over construction. Not a problem.
