Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Mele Cascades Waterfalls is one of Efate's most popular natural attractions. Only 20 minutes drive out of town, a visit can be completed in just over two hours. There are bathroom facilities available , sitting area, a small cafe and bar on site for purchase of food and drinks. The area is local owned and run by locals. Revenue generated help pay wages for local employees, maintenance and upkeep of the area, community development for surrounding villages and sponsorship of social activities, most especially soccer development programs for youth. Note: Efate is currently experiencing severe El Nino and the once picturesque attraction has very low water levels. This is also causing drastic water supply shortage to villages and its people. To close the business would mean loss of income for many.

The swim is worth the walk up there!! Beautiful! It can be a bit of a tough walk if you want to get to the big water as the path is through the water and climbing over rocks. Plus - make sure you camera is a waterproof one, you want to capture this!

“Wonderful time”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

the cascades are fantastic, the walk can get a bit steep, and you'll have to walk up a set of stairs carved into a smaller waterfall, so waters rushing all around you and your hanging on to the support rope as hard are you can. But for us that was the best part! The main waterfall is lovely, with a little pool at the bottom, if you fancy going of the beaten tract to the right theres another smaller private waterfall and pool, but theres not really a path to get there you'll have to climb up and over. there are also a lot of smaller waterfalls and some of the pools are quite deep. Again if you want some privacy climb down some of the waterfalls off the path and you'll find your own pool. Don't worry you wont get stranded, theres always a way to get back to the path. Happy adventuring!

“Fantastic place to cool off :-)”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Take your swimmers and a towel, so that you can take a dip in the cool crystal clear waters. Stop for a beer or a wine at the bar on your way back down. It's just a beautiful little spot to visit.

“Just amazing!”

An amazing place to visit if you are nearby Port Vila. Only a Bus trip and few hours spent in the cascades for a refresh and dip in the cool water.
