Owner description: Mele Cascades Waterfalls is one of Efate's most popular natural attractions. Only 20 minutes drive out of town, a visit can be completed in just over two hours. There are bathroom facilities available , sitting area, a small cafe and bar on site for purchase of food and drinks. The area is local owned and run by locals. Revenue generated help pay wages for local employees, maintenance and upkeep of the area, community development for surrounding villages and sponsorship of social activities, most especially soccer development programs for youth. Note: Efate is currently experiencing severe El Nino and the once picturesque attraction has very low water levels. This is also causing drastic water supply shortage to villages and its people. To close the business would mean loss of income for many.

We absolutely loved the Cascades and would place it as a highlight of our holidays.

There is a little walk up to the top but you have the most beautiful views of the water all along and you will definitely want to stop and take photos.

After reading the views we were worried about shoes to wear but as beach girls we were totally fine walking up in thongs . When you get to the top there is plenty of room to out your bag and towel and then you will want to get straight into the water.

We went up the different sections of the waterfalls in bare feet and it was totally fine-just like any other rock pools.

Make sure you bring cash with you as there is no card machine at the entrance. There is an atm at the bar that gives you Australian dollars however it has a $6 charge to use it.

You could easily spend a day here either packing your own lunch or eating there. There is also lounge chairs around the beautiful water pools at the bottom.

This place will blow your mind!!

Beautiful falls! Its a little bit of a hike to get to them and to go up to see them expect to get wet (water shoes a must) but worth a visit!

Loved this it was so cool to walk up the waterfall. Plenty of shade. if you are going to do this avoid the cruise ship days as it can delay things for you. Don't go home without doing this!

We did this as an Evergreen tour last week with our guide Camilla and Henry our driver. We left the hotel about 9am and it was just us as the weather was not great and no doubt put people off. We got there around 9.30ish and headed straight up to the Cascades. The walk is steep in places but no too bad and the scenery is beautiful. We all wore reef shoes which I would suggest as it can be a bit rocky and slippery on the way up.

Just before you get to the main pool there is a place with benches where you can leave things you don't want to take further. We left our towels, sunnies, water etc. Its quite safe as there is a staff member there.

The main pool is just lovely and the water so clean. We were lucky and were the only ones there. Even though the weather wasn't really warm the water was really nice.

Just under the main cascade there is a cave. Its a bit scary as you can't see a thing as you walk in but do go in. Its not big but an experience to be the other side of the fall. Do be careful though as the rock formation is quite low. The first person in our group swam in and realised how low it was when she stood and warned me, but I was too late to warn the next person and she smacked her head. Wasn't hurt but nasty shock.

As we headed down we passed so many people and were so glad we got there relatively early and had it all to ourselves. Do go early if you can as the main pool is not that large.

Excellent, well kept amenities as the base.

Absolutely packed! We went on a grey and wet day but the Cascades were still very busy. Worth a visit but only if you don't mind paying $25 AUD to walk up some pretty waterfalls with lots of other people.
