Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Mele Cascades Waterfalls is one of Efate's most popular natural attractions. Only 20 minutes drive out of town, a visit can be completed in just over two hours. There are bathroom facilities available , sitting area, a small cafe and bar on site for purchase of food and drinks. The area is local owned and run by locals. Revenue generated help pay wages for local employees, maintenance and upkeep of the area, community development for surrounding villages and sponsorship of social activities, most especially soccer development programs for youth. Note: Efate is currently experiencing severe El Nino and the once picturesque attraction has very low water levels. This is also causing drastic water supply shortage to villages and its people. To close the business would mean loss of income for many.
Useful Information: Bathroom facilities, Food available for purchase

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the falls are. I had low expectations but when we arrived the water was so blue. We had a quick lunch at the bottom and then started walking up the trail exploring the different area's along the way.

It had rained a few days before so everything was lush and green and the path was a bit muddy, but when we got to the water crossing area's we washed off our feet. It was a warm day so the cool, crystal clear water was perfect for freshening up.

The walk is very manageable and has seats about half way, but it has area's with big stairs so this could affect some peoples ability to get to the top and you do need to be carefully as it's a little slippery at the water crossing area's (even though the locals grind the moss off the rocks in the walking area's) The had someone at the check points along the way, so if something happens they are very helpful. A girl lost her thong in the fall and one of the men dived in to get it for her. Very kind and helpful people.

It's well worth the trip!

My visit to mele Cascade fall was fantastic .The walk up to the falls through the scenic landscape of trees and watering pools was so breath taking and so refreshing to swim in. This is one trip never to miss when touring Vanuatu. I did this trip not by tour but caught a bus out there through the help of the staff from Coconut Palm. When arriving to Mele Falls I heard sounds of singing from across the road asking the gentlmen "they were having church "Inviting to go to church it was so amazing an the entertaining of their song was so joyfull, their services an warm welcome made me feel apart of them.
To staff of Mele Fall thankyou it had been amazing day and to the people I had been in church with that day.... Cheers from New Zealand

The waterfalls are beautiful and well worth the visit.
We found the walk up to be easy and there was a group of us who all enjoyed the trip.
Make sure you wear reef shoes and go for a swim - very refreshing.
