My husband and I have just returned from 6 days at Benjor. Unfortunately we only had 2 fine days during that time but amazingly it didn't seem to matter. On arrival we were warmly greeted with a welcome drink by managers, Eva and Kevin, who proceeded to fill us in on everything we needed to know about Port Vila and the resort. They then escorted us to our bungalow which was spacious, clean and overlooking the sea. The resort is situated on 23 acres and so there is plenty of space between bungalows which affords everyone quietness and privacy. The restaurant is open all day; the service is friendly and the food is delicious - so much so that we ate there every night rather than go elsewhere. The pool area overlooks the sea and has plenty of lounges for relaxing. At high tide great snorkelling is to be had right outside the resort although it is sometimes a bit choppy for good visibility. If this happens head to Hideaway Island which is 5 minutes away and has a sheltered side where lots of tropical fish swim around the coral and is excellent for snorkelling or diving. Cascade Waterfalls are also 5 minutes away from the resort and are a must-see when in Vanuatu. The resort has a tennis and volleyball court, mini putt-putt, petanque and outdoor checkers if you feel like something more active. The resort is about 15-20 minutes out of Port Vila which might not suit some people, particularly those after an active nightlife. However it is very easy to get transport into town and to be honest, once I had seen the town I was very happy to get back to the peace and tranquility of Benjor. The resort may not be billed as five star but the experience was!

This resort is exactly what we were after. My boyfriend and I travel alot on leisure and work and were looking for a short relaxing break where we could do as littke as we wanted. Benjor Beach club ticked all of the boxes for us.
It is away from the hussle and bussle of town and as such is a perfect escape.
The staff were amazingly friendly, were the friendliest staff I have ever come across.
This resort is a little out ot town, so if you are looking for a place right in the action of Port Villa, Benjor Beach Club is not for you. However if you are looking for a retreat, you cannot go wrong.
Food was 5 star, better than you would find in most places in Sydney.
Rooms were 3/4 star, but the service and location to the beach made up for it. Situated right on the beach, you feel like you are in paradise.

This is a lovely place to stay and nice and quiet. It’s on a secluded side of the island where most of the expats live and about a 20 minute ride into town. Taxis are very expensive (about $30), but you can go by shared minibus for between 300-500 vatu depending on how many you are and where else the bus is going. Remember, last in, last out. It’s an interesting way to see more of Port Villa and taste part of Vanuatu’s communal culture. The resort can organize airport transfers for about Aus $15 each way.
The rooms (they call them villas) are huge with a sitting room and huge deck area. They also have two 5 room bungalows for families. There’s a welcome fruit platter in the fridge as well as boiled water and lots of tropical flowers for that Pacific touch. There’s a TV which gets no reception but it’s hooked up to a DVD player so you can play some of the cheap new release DVDs you can buy in town from the Chinese shops. There’s no phone in the rooms or wireless Internet, but you can borrow the computer at reception.

The resort is set in a huge lush garden on the sea, where the American Officer’s Club was situated during WII. But despite the name, there’s not much of a beach. You drop straight onto the reef for some pretty decent snorkeling. There’s a small pool and volleyball and petanque courts. The food in the restaurant is delicious. The chocolate soufflé is divine!

The Australian managers are super helpful. I descended on them straight for the airport desperate to make a 2 PM dive at Hideaway (see my review) and they organized it all for me as I got changed and dispensed with the check in formalities until I got back. They also ran a group of us into town for free as they were running errands. They also allowed me to keep my room until 5 PM the next day for no extra charge which I really appreciated.

I had stayed in Port Villa for two nights but found it difficult to sleep, so was really glad to be at peaceful Benjor.

As a family we enjoy the sea and we went to Vanuatu for the coral reef experiance. After visiting Hideaway and pango point we believe the reef along the water front at Benjor to be the best in Port Vila. You can access the reef off the beach (easiest at high tide) and hours can be spent snorkling the reef along either side.
Dining at Benjour is a real experiance. They pride themselves on their cuisine, the service is impecable, and the atmosphere in the 'old officiers club' is just magical. A few of the walls are open and the sound of the sea and tropical night life waft in, whilst not being exposed to the elements.
The rooms are spacious with a private balcony and you do have privacy. The staff are just delightful. They are genuinely friendly and warm and nothing is a bother. Eva and Kevin are perfect hosts.
Benjor is a 15- 20minute drive out from Port Vila and the trip is about AU$5per person by any of the hundreds of readily available small buses . Whilst it was fun shopping and dining in Port Vila is was good to get back to our resort to relax. It can be quite hectic in town, especially the traffic. Note that the cost of living in Venuata is about the same as in Australia.

We stayed at Benjor for 7 nights in bungalow 1 from 10/5/09 to 17/5/09
The resort is a 3 star property about 15km from Port Vila so we spent a lot of time waiting for busses that have to be called whenever you want to go any where
The snorkeling off the beach is good when the seas aren’t breaking on the rocks and coral reef so you can get out to enjoy them, there is a swimming pool (really cold) with a bar that wasn’t open in the 7 nights we were there, the food at the restaurant is very good and the staff very friendly the rooms are large and comfortable with ceiling fans no TV or air conditioning and the grounds are well maintained, there is no night time entertainment as the restaurant and bar closed at 7/30 or 8pm (it felt a bit like hurry up and finish your meal we want to go home to bed if you want an after diner drink have it in your room not at our bar) the Cascades and hideaway island are close by and worth a visit as is Tara Beach resort just 10 to 15 min walk up the road and a world of difference
In my opinion this resort is good and very similar to other resorts of this style at which we have stayed in the Pacific no better and no worse to me it just lacked that I have to come back feel

My new wife and have only excellent memories of the way we were treated at Benjor Beach Club. We had a group of 20 from New Zealand and Australia attending our wedding, everyone commented on how much effort the team at Benjor went to to make our special day very special indeed. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
The location is beautiful, the food is fantastic and everyones so friendly and helpful.

You would think it would be hard to plan a wedding in a country you've never been to. Miranda, Eva and Kevin took all the guess work out by providing everything from the pastor to recommending the cake lady and photographer. The only surprise was just how much effort the wholw team puts in to make your wedding memorable for all.

We spent a week at the fantastic Benjor resort one year ago and had our wedding at the resort. We were accommodated in the Honeymoon bungalow, which had a private jacuzzi and a private path to the ocean.
People make Benjor a special place and our wedding and the time we spent there were truly fantastic.
David and Jane thanks for making our stay at Benjor special and we hope to return soon!
Helen and Paula thanks for the wonderful wedding!
