Owner description: Vanuatu Jungle Zipline allows people to experience the fabulous rain forest, ocean views and canyon crossing by traversing on ZIPLINES at height. Its an exciting and challenging activity for the whole family ages 4 - 80+ years. There are now two separate courses with 13 ZIPLINES in total covering a distance of 2.2Km. The RAIN FOREST TREE TOP CANOPY TOUR is our original course and has 6 ZIPLINES and TWO suspension bridges and is nearly 1km long. Our new ZIPTREK course has 7 ZIPLINES with the largest being 300m long and covering a distance of 1.3 Km. Participants wear full body harnesses and are attached to the cable with a continuous belay when at height. Bookings are essential. We pick up from town at our ticket booth in PORT VILA on the sea front at NUMBAWAN cafe at either 10 am or 1.00 PM. Transfers are free of charge when doing the Zipline or if you are just watching they are $10. Or you may make your own way to the Zipline. We are located at MELE BAY, past Hideaway Island and just past Island Magic Resort. Turn off down the dirt road - devils point road and follow the signs.

Either arrange a bus or pre-book to be picked up by zip line staff in town (cheaper to be picked up by zip line staff). On arrival friendly staff set you up with safety gear (you do also sign a waiver). If you don't like being touched by strangers this will be weird - but all above board, nothing inappropriate. Short walk to scaffolding up to tree platform. Staff go through all safety aspects and you are connected to the wire line at all times. If you freak out at the first platform, you can be unhooked, but once you start zipping I don't think this would be possible. As a first timer I was a bit worried, but after the first short zip to the next platform I was enjoying myself. Staff are very helpful and supportive.

Adults and kids can go and if you take your camera the staff zipping with you will take your camera and do action shots of you zipping if you want. If you are with someone who does not wish to do zip, there is a nice waiting area with a great view where they can wait for your zip to be completed and they can also see some of your zip going across the canyon.

Views a great, although the zip from platform to platform is so quick you hardly have time to take it all in. There are 2 suspension bridges, the longer one is a bit wobbly but completely safe as you are always clipped to the safety line and staff are never far away.

One warning - don't put the brakes on too soon. Doing hand over hand to get to platform or till someone can grab you, is hard yakka if you are not fit. Overall it isn't too strenuous - final walk to waiting area is a bit steep, but just take your time. If you do a second zip in the same week it is half price.

T-shirts and singlets for sale, though I think hats/caps would be a great addition. Staff give you a ride back to town afterward.
