Tradewinds was recommended to us by friends of ours who live in Vanuatu. We were very happy with our stay and would happily recommend Tradewinds to others. The only slight minus is that this isn't a beachfront property (although it does have a lovely pool area). Anyway, if you want a sandy beachfront location then this isn't for you.

My husband and I travelled to Port Vila for the first and hopefully not the last time at the end August for 2 weeks in the sun.
We chose to stay at Tradewinds Resort based on reviews on trip advisor.
Tradewinds represents itself well on the website and I commented to Mitch that this was indeed very good.
We found the facilities to be exactly what we needed. Self contained, clean and exceptionally tidy.
There is a smallish pool which for the size of the property is very good. This was also in very good order and sparkling clean. Lounge chairs to sit by it also.
We found the staff to be friendly and welcoming. Mitch, Lynn and Sally are brilliant.
There was a real sense of interest and a genunine friendliness from them as to what we were doing each day and how we went.
The studio we had #19 was great it was slightly different from the others as it had a large sliding door with a fly screen, this let in lots of natural light by day and a cooling breeze by night.
We also had a wee 'yard' outside the room which was private and gave us a lawn to strectch out on .
The room had a full sized fridge and 2burner cooktop. This let me save money on food by cooking a quite a few meals and packing picnics most days.
There is a sparkling clean guest BBQ which we also used a couple of times.
The table tennis gave us something to do while our dinner cooked on the BBQ!
Overall we were very very happy with the accommodation and thought it was value for money. We had a look at most of the other main resorts and a few intimate ones but still could not fault Tradewinds.
If you are looking for genuine friendly service, intimate & quiet surrounds this is the place for you.
Sure there are more 'glamourous' places to stay, where you will be just a room number and have to share the 20metere pool with 30 other rooms at least!.
The location was good a 15min (aprox) stoll into town provided a real look at how the locals live. There is a village just at the front gate and this was a colourful place with lots of dogs and chickens. Waving and saying hello as you passed people was the thing to do. Everyone was friendly and it made us feel welcome. The local children were adorable.
Buses came past the entrance on a fairly regular basis and all you had to do was flag it down and tell them where you wanted to go.
We hired a vehicle for the last week and had off street parking at the resort. At night there was a security guard on hand just in case you needed help-which we didnt.
Our ceiling fan in the room stopped working one night and after a quick mention it was fixed the next day as was a blown light bulb, very swift service indeed.
Although the resort is not on the beach/lagoon there were views down to the lagoon from certain parts of the property. This was not a problem at all for us are we were out doing and seeing the island during the days . When we did go back for the occasional lunch it had the most calm and peaceful atmosphere to it.
DVD's could be hired from the office for a small fee and there were plenty of books to borrow for reading. Internet services can be used here also for a small fee.
We highly reccommend Tradewinds as place to stay.

Tradewinds Resort in Vanuatu is great, the resort is self sufficient, our studio had its own kitchenette, BBQ facilities, swimming pool, laundry facilities, lovely garden & table tennis equipment. Most of all the staff & owners Mitch & Lynn are very warm, friendly & helpful. They have a great deal of local knowledge that helped us to get around & do things on our own & reasonably. It is only a short (10-15 min) walk from the city centre, shopping centre/s, restaurants- so well located as well. It has a lovely little village at its door step where you get to see people carrying on with their local life & daily chores, which was very interesting. All in all, value for money. They also arranged for our airport transfers which was helpful, we would definitely stay there again or recommend it to our friends & family.

A great place to stay if you want to enjoy and experience the real Vanuatu as the resort is opposite a couple of local villages. We stayed in the 4 bed town house with 4 adults and 2 pre-schoolers and had plenty of space and privacy. The resort is friendly, super clean with great staff and service. The townhouse was well stocked with plenty of cooking utensils and cutlery. We particularly enjoyed getting to know some of the locals and walking to the local markets, town centre and supermarkets. The reosrt is ideally situated and the walk is easy and safe (even with two toddlers). Lynne, Mitch & Sally went out of their way to help us, taking us to the supermarket on our first night, lending us their car and giving us a lift if they were heading in the same direction as well as lots of suggestions for things to do with children. Would highly recommend this resort for families or for longer term stays. We'll be back.

Situated with great views of lagoon. Easy access to town and museum.Owners are always keen to help organise sight seeing trips etc.and fix any problems quickly.
I have stayed at Tradewinds 5 or 6 times in the past 4 years when working as a volunteer midwife at the hospital nearby. Tradewinds give us really good rates and a warm welcome. It feels like home from home. I recommend it to other midwives who go there as volunteers and get good feedback from them too.
Once a week they organise a barbeque to which all guests are invited. This provides a great opportunity to meet and get to know others staying there.
The self catering units are ideal for us. The swimming pool is an added bonus after a hard days work and is kept in good order.
Their local staff too are friendly and totally trustworthy. They have good and helpful security guards at night and I feel very safe there

If you are looking for somewhere that is clean, comfortable, secure, quiet (except for the occasional rooster), in a great location with everything you need then the Tradwinds is the place to stay. The bungalows are self contained with all the mod cons, so if you do not want to go out you may cook and eat in, rent a DVD and have a nice relaxing night. There is a pool just outside your door. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We have been and stayed in a few resorts around Vila and Tradewinds outdoes them all. It is a fantastic place to stay. You could not ask for better hosts than Mitch and Lynn. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable.

Very spacious new 4 bedroom home with everything you need for self catering. Absolutely perfect for families, fishers or golfers (host Mitch Clement has his own boat, & electric golf buggy, for adjacent Mele golf course!). Swimming pool and 100 metre lawn leading to safe and sandy (not coral) Mele Beach. We found rental car an advantage as property is about 8 kms from Vila, but still well served by local (Bus)public transport. We certainly will return with family and grandchildren.
