“Good Snorkeling and relaxing location”
Reviewed February 11, 2014 via mobile

Much much better than hideaway island. Lots of fish and other sea life. Nice white sand and good facilities. Food and drink were also good. Stayed for dinner one night after Snorkeling, which was excellent, and watch the eels and sea snakes come out to be fed by the locals. Staff are very nice and helpful. After visiting hideaway island and being disappointed we went to Erakor Island a heap of times. You pay for the boat but use your receipt to get credit for food or kayak hire. Great day or night.

We stayed at this resort a few weeks ago for 5 nights on our honeymoon. The water at erakor island is beautiful and the beach bungalows are romantic in front of the water. We felt the staff were so lovely especially the tour hut ladies. However, don't expect everything to be perfect as they easily forget things like cleaning your room, food u have ordered or bookings and the jacuzzi kept breaking. We found it really odd that there was no phone in the room to call and ask questions ESP when it was raining everyday and we would have to walk a fair way to reception. There is also no food or room service available after 10pm :( don't use taxis as we ended up in an argument with a taxi man named Jimmy who hunted us down for more money at the jetty while we waited for the ferry to take us back to the resort. There was noone around and it was late so b careful! Food across the water at LeLagoon is much nicer than the resort restaurant so pls visit . Lastly, don't bother pre purchasing extras beforehand (i.e - spa voucher, island toura) as u will spend HOURS trying to book them, negotiating with their tour companies to take u even if they don't have at least 4 peeps. They always changed our spa times too so wait till your there to add anything . People and location are great here and it seems like a perfect place for families with little kids but there is DEFINITELY room for some improvement. I will miss Aunty :( I wish them all the best !

The staff are just lovely, so nice that I tipped the nice ones enough for them to live on for a week as they only get payed 1.80 vt per hour..... To give an idea of how low in pay this is ::a bottle of water is 550vt and a glass of wine is1100 vt.

If you are late for breakfast, don't bother getting out of bed , as believe me they wont be refilling the breakfast area for you.
I arrived at 9.30 when breakfast is meant to finish at 10.30 and there was nothing to eat.
When I asked if they could cook me some eggs, they had already put away the fry pans , with an hour still to go for breakfast.. I asked for some juice, as the jug was empty and they said once gone, they don't refill it. Holy Moly, is this a joke!!
A top resort and they couldn't even supply a decent breakfast for the expense payed.

The Spa doesn't have a changing room ladies, no kidding just strip off with open windows (no curtains) the gardeners and any person walking down the path can look in at you.
Actually anyone could just walk into the spa room , as it just one large room open for all :-)
They don't even give you a robe to put on once you have taken you cloths off while you wait to have your massage/ facial. This is not for the faint hearted at all, the spa worst ever that I have visited worldwide.
Worst of all they clam to use Aloe Vera/Honey on you face and once leaving she placed the product she used on my face on the chair and it was vanilla scented BODY LOTION!!!

There is a lot better places in Vanuatu to stay with outstanding service

Room Tip: Need to book on the same side as the boat arrive to the Island, as the opposite side is very windy a...

Well i did look around at all types of accom and thought no this time we will stay on a island, (we do stay high end like the hilton in places) Erakor island had great reviews so off we went, Wow wow wow what a place loved it, food was great and good kids menu, soft drinks were 500vt about 5.50 au but there was a little store back on the mainland 10min walk to we stocked up there to save money, bowl of chips 500vt and garlic bread was 500vt, the ferry ride only took 4-5 mins and is free to guests, staff were great very lovely people, i liked vanuatu better than fiji, the water was just amazing snokleing was great and kayaking was great and free the water is clear you see everything under you, vila 1234 are family vilas, we had vila 5 just a basic 2 adult 1 child vila, vilas 678910 were spa vilas all of these vilas were on a great side of the island, just walk right out into the water, the others on the other side seems to have a lot of sea grass in the lagoon so ours was the only basic vila on the good side, next time we go will get a family vila as we have one more child on the way, we got there on the 24th jan 12pm at night so when we woke to the lagoon was just great, most people left the island on the 26th or 27th to head back to aus for school so out of 24 vila there was only 3 left with people in them great time to come to the island for peace and to have the island all to your self, you do get day trippers come over from the mainland but not that many its bad with people, but there is a nice peaceful beach up the other end of the island with chairs and things up there worth a walk up there its lovely, what a great 7 nights didnt want to leave another 2nights would of been good our little 8 year old loved it

Room Tip: vila 5 was cheap on the good side for kids to swim

We stayed at the Erakor for 3 nights of our 7 night honeymoon. We are so glad we stayed there for part of our trip as it was so beautiful and we were made to feel so welcome. Our room was a fantastic size with a stunning view- we literally stepped out the back door and were on the beach! There were fantastic reefs all around the island and so much other stuff to do. Water equipment is free to borrow for resort guests- we kayaked along the island. There was always stuff to do- movie nights, dinners, island walks etc. We also had a wonderful couples massage in the spa. The only downside was the restaurant- the food selection was not large and didn't always taste great but this didn't matter as Port Vila was easily accessible from the island. We also wished there was a pool to offer a change to the beach. Blancha and Henry welcomed us to the island and were fantastic during our stay. We would definitely stay at the Erakor again and would recommend it to friends.

Wonderful people, wonderful resort. They are do friendly and the resort is do peaceful and the water surrounding the island is great for kids and adults. Crystal clear water, snorkiling 10 steps from your room. Great resort for couples and families alike. We were honeymooners this time but already planning a trip with our 3 kids and we will be staying at erakor island. They treat you like family and nothing is too much trouble, meals are big and tasty. We had a chefs private dinner and it was the best meal we've ever eaten, we felt like super stars.

Erakor Island Resort and Spa is a beautiful part of Vanuatu. I have visited Vanuatu many times but this was my first time staying on Erakor Island and it was by far the best place I have stayed at. Erakor has an island feel with wonderful snorkelling just off the beach but still is so close to the town. The staff were always friendly and went over and beyond with any requests made. I went to the BBQ feast and fire show and it was a fantastic experience. It really is a must do if your staying there. The food was always great and there were many options to accommodate everyone. The spa is also fantastic, very relaxing and well worth a visit. I would really recommend staying at Erakor Island Resort and Spa as it really showcases the best of what Vanuatu has to offer.
