We stayed in a Garden Superior room backing onto the golf course for 6 nights (broken up with a trip to Tanna for 2 nights in the middle). The room was ample for the four of us (with strategic placement of our luggage). We were impressed by the privacy of the rooms which are set out in pairs and spaced well apart. The pools were great. Bar service at the pool was a little slow at times but no problem. We ate at Wild Ginger every night while the kids were entertained in the kids club. We didn't try the buffet restaurant. Kids club was fantastic, with heaps of varied activities. The resort location is good, close to town and the airport. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

We thought the Hideaway Island day trip (snorkeling and glass bottom boat) was a bit overrated. It would be better to take yourself there and just snorkel in front of the resort.

This was our 3rd trip to Vanuatu and our first stay at Le Lagon. Our previous stays were at Le Meridian with our children. This time we travelled with another couple and after trying out Le Lagon we can certainly say it is the better of the two family minded resorts. We did not get the all inclusive package as with no children we did not want to feel compelled to eat at the same place all the time.

While being 'child free', and yet staying at a family resort, we were a little hesitant about the 'kid factor' but we have to say that it really wasn't an issue. From what we can summise, they were well entertained by the Kids Club staff and therefore didn't impact upon the peace we were looking for. The only busy times were buffet breakfast and buffet dinners but we soon learnt to time it to be outside the busy family times.

The key to enjoying a trip to Vanuatu is getting into 'Vanuatu Time'. The Ni Vanuatu people certainly live up to their title of the happiest people on Earth and that's because they don't let anything stress them- they move cheerfully and peacefully through their day. This means that you will get your drink/meal/service but in an unhurried and stress free manner. Just relax, enjoy the pace, the view and take time to breathe!

We found the buffet breakfast plentiful and this often filled us for the day. Lunch or dinner was enjoyed in some other great places to visit including:
1. Numbawan Cafe on the harbour - looks unlike a Sydney cafe but great coffee, great food, great view.
2. El Gecko - main street near Goodies money exchange. Great lunchtime specials.
3. Chills- upstairs, overlooking harbour, just near the markets. More like a Sydney cafe/bistro with great pizza and a variety of meals.
4. Roxys Restaurant on Erakor Island is convenient with a five minute free ferry ride from just outside Le Lagon's gates. Great view back to Le Lagon, peaceful atmosphere and wonderful happy hour deals.

Hi-lights for us were the champagne Sunset Cruise of Port Vila Harbour, a 'girls visit' to the Lotus Spa in Vila, boys' fishing trip with Topless Fishing Charters (near Numbawan Cafe)and a day trip out to Eratap Beach Resort.

A marked change for us in visiting Vanuatu these past ten years is the new practice of taxi drivers trying to sell you special trips to the tourist attractions. We were enticed by Frank into a 'personalised' day trip for our group but found it to be disappointing and more expensive when you added in having to then pay entry to places and the cost of lunch at the restaurant he took us to (while he got a free lunch from the owners). Our advice would be to stick to the recognised tour group Adventures in Paradise as their tours are all inclusive and some include m/tea and or traditional lunch.

Had read some reviews on this site about room problems, over charging etc but I have to say we found none of these things an issue. When we did question something on our account they readily provided the correct charge docket signed by us (I think the cocktails clouded our memories). Would certainly recommend joining the Warwick Club as the 10% discount on food & bev was a nice bonus to the complimentary bottle of champagne (but sadly no room upgrade).

All in all a great holiday, sadly over too soon ... until the next time.

we arrived in port vila on monday the 7th of september to find out that two of the people we were traveling with didnt have rooms and theat they wouldnt for 3 days and they were sent to the sebel not happy they went for the days they were not staying at le lagon they had free travel to and from the 2 hotels and had free food vouchers that they were using in the wild ginger every night and it included 2 drinks each as well.

i had paid for the garden superior but got a lagoon superior, excellent view but not renovated, as i was getting married here on the night of the wedding got an upgrade to the erakor suite very nice and the night after to the island suite absolutey fantastic.

buffet breakfast was delicious there were cereals, yoghurts, yummy pasteries, made to order omeltes and traditional hot breakfast foods.

wild ginger was A grade we ate here most nights teppenyaki is a deffinate must try as to is the santo steak yum!

we checked our bill every day and had never had any extras added to it.

as part of the wedding package we got a hr massage each , deffinatley recommend the massages.

once our other guests got to the le lagon they were upgraded to the all inclusive.

we heard on the day of leaving that the guy who was in charge of bookings got wind he was being let go so went and stuffed up on purpose they had managers in from high up trying to fix the problem and i beleive they did a great job with what they had.

regardless of what had happened i will still return to this resort and recommend it to anyone

We had 16 in our group , 2 family's in our group got upgraded which was a bonus for them , the rest of us where spread out around the resort , the service was abit slow at the bar , but thats how it is in the south pacific (very laid back). We all enjoyed the buffet meals, even the pool side grill had nice meals. The local beer-Tusker, was alittle hard to drink the first day but got used to it after 7 days,. Our room was cleaned daily , it was great coming back each day after doing tours to a freshly made bed and clean room. The kids loved the kids club , they had so many activities to do. A great place to stay, Highly recommend it.

My husband, 18th month old and I stayed at Le lagon from the 12-19 Sept. We stayed in a garden bungalow which had a beautiful view of the lagoon, as well as a large garden surroundings for our little one to play in. The bungalow was really spacious and had a separte bath and shower. The gardens were just gorgeous as was the lagoon. The weather was nice, a little cool at night when a breeze came but refreshing. The pools were nice, busy except the baby pool was filthy. Breakfast was disappointing by which i mean cold, lack of fresh fruit (I think our little one ate the resort out of bananas as there were none left after a few days). Lunch and dinner were sometimes good, Wild Ginger is highly reccommended. We went to two very nice restaurants that overlooked the water, not busy at all: Le rendevous and Chantillys on the bay. My husband loved the local beer and bought a 24 pack down at the supermarket. The supermarket has everything you need, we bought a chicken and some bread and snacks there for during the day. We went on a glass bottom boat tour, hailed buses into town and also went on the buggy rentals which was fun fun fun. The turtle island resort has all aged turtles, fish feeding, an eel, a coconut crab and some bats. We took a cab out there which took about half an hour and the driver stayed for about an hour while we looked and swam. Dont catch the cabs they are a rip off! walk to the front of the resort and hail a bus down as they are more than half the price. We got a bay sitter from the resort called Vainah Berry twice and she was wonderful with our little boy. We had a few drinks at the bar. It was lovely to relax and stare at the view and drink some cocktails. There were a few entertainment nights with various singing groups and some dancers. A chief comes around every night to light the fires around the resort before dinner. The massage was cheap at the resort and also really good (except for rude people who try to book thier massages while you are trying to have one done). We only drank bottled water, I know it is safe but I didnt want the little one to risk it. Lots of little bugs and creatures to find in the lagoon and starfish galore. The people are very friendly, occasionally a few language barriers but we are in another country so that cant be helped. I would not reccommend getting room service, not only does it take over an hour and a half to get but it is extremely poor quality. The pizzas are frozen and heated up in a microwave. And if you want a few drinks it is easier to either buy them at the supermarket or walk to the bar and get them yourself! Overall but we had a really great time and I would really reccommend the resort and Vanuatu itself.
