The Holiday Inn resort in Port Vila really is paradise. My husband and I have never been on holiday in the South Pacific and weren't sure where to go. We were advised to visit Fiji or the Cook Islands. When I saw the picture of the Holiday Inn lagoon I had to go! It was amazing! Staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean, spacious and well laid out. Restaurant is great and the buffet breakfast is to die for!
Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. For the money it is a bargain! We visited May 2013 and have booked for October 2013! We will be regular visitors to the Holiday Inn! Can't wait to return.

Holiday Inn is amazing! Arriving late in the evening the check in was quick and easy - with special mention to security who escorted and carried my bags to the room. The bed and pillow was oh so comfy and slept easily. Woke up the next day and decided to stay in the resort due to heavy rain. That didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. We kayak in the lake, swam in the pool while sipping on a cocktail overlooking the view. Buffet breakfast was also part of our room, large range of hot and cold assortment. Staff were helpful and always greeted us with a smile.
The only downfall would be the slippery tiles due to the muggy weather but all in all I loved my stay at Holiday Inn.

Good Morning murphy1987

Thank you for your review.

Great to see you enjoyed your time here in Vanuatu and with us on Resort. Sounds like you eased into the resort very well with a little kayaking, swimming or sipping no matter what the weather was doing!

Hope to welcome you back to the resort in the near future.

We have just returned from 7 nights at Holiday Inn Vanuatu. This was a very relaxing holiday and great fun for my son and husband. We were meant to be going skiing but as there was no snow in Australia decided on a warm option and we are pleased we did. Our son (8 years old) thought the three best things of his holiday were the snorkelling, the buffet and the beach soccer. He wasn't that interested in the kids club but found plenty of other boys around his age to play with and the wonderful activities staff (especially Bob, Arsenne, and John) were happy to occupy him and played many games of beach soccer with him, my husband and a variety of other energetic Aussies and Poms. Me, I lounged by the pool and the lagoon and enjoyed the services of the attentive pool bar staff. Special mention to the Head Chef James for doing a great job cooking up my husband's catch. We had the buffet most nights as the kids eat free deal but get to choose from a good variety had great appeal. We also did happy hour half price drinks at the pool bar, which we felt was good value. Like others we went to Mele Cascades, Hideaway island for snorkelling. Husband also went on a great fishing charter (harbour fishing charters- Mitch and Lyn) , caught 3 mahi-mahi, 6 yellow fin and 13 skipjack. My treat was time in the hotel's day spa- which was well priced when compared to Aust. We agree with other reviews that the rooms can be noisy but as most were families it wasn't like there were parties going on all night or anything to really disturb us. Will go again.

Good Morning HMM B

Thank you for your 'relaxing' review.

I am not sure how you d squeezed much relaxing in considering the beach activities, tours and deep sea fishing. It certainly reinforces the diversity of the destination were you can either do very little poolside or get out and about very easily. A good place to look for those activities is on the Vanuatu Tour Operators Association website.

Hope to see you back here in Vanuatu in the future.

We stayed here last week. We had a family room and it was wonderful having so much space. The real asset to this hotel are the staff. David at Breakfast, Jonathon at the pool bar and the Robert and Andrew and the rest of the activities team were all really wonderful. My son (11) was up at the crack of dawn and we would find him down playing soccer with the boys on the beach. Buffet breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular. The buffet (we ate twice) was a real let down. Basically the food here isn't its strong point. On departing at 1.30 we were told that the late check out that we had been offered (2pm) couldn't happen and would we mind hurrying up? When I said we were in the process of packing and would be out of there in 15 minutes, the woman at the front desk became a bit narky, We hadn't been told of this change in arrangements before. There was also various over charges on our bill which needed to be sorted.
Despite these, we really had a fabulous time. In fact my son, a very robust and well travelled child, cried when we left. Cant wait to go back.

Good Morning familytibet

Thank you for your review and also mentioning so many of the team by name.

Sorry to hear that your departure was not as positive as the rest of your experience. Certainly something we have discussed including accuracy of the bill. We are looking at different dining options including the introduction of a Tapas menu into the Lobby bar and our wood fired Pizza oven is on it's way from Italy to enhance the pool side dining options as well.

Sounds like that Vanuatu and the team has left a lasting affect on your son! The team certainly enjoy spending time with the younger guests and with 60% population Vanuatu under the age of 25 they relate to them very well.

Look forward to welcoming you back to Vanuatu in the future.

Fabulous resort style hotel with lovely staff keen to help. Try to make sure that you get a room with a lagoon view, it is great. Also this hotel is very popular with Australian and New Zealand families so make sure you are not next to a room with young children as the walls are not sound proofed too well. The hotel is out of Port Villa so you will have to catch a taxi if you want to go into town. But nice location.

Good Morning PeterTurkey

Thank you for your 'Great' review.

Just a short ride into town 1.5km's but far enough away on the Lagoon to feel no where near a city. Great tip about the LAgoon view rooms.

Look forward to welcoming you back in the near future but it looks like you are a fair distance from Vanuatu!

As a family we were looking at staying at the Warwick but were told by Belinda Lahood@holiday Specialists that it had had a multimillion $ refit, so were quite shocked when we arrived that it was very dated. Our daughter was in a resort room which was musty and lots of centipedes but the children loved being able to run out to the lawn. They upgraded to a lovely family room with colourful bunks TVS and playstation and were in kid heaven. They have been to many beautiful 5 star resorts, (some with their own villa and pool) around the world , but they loved their stay and said it was the best resort ever. There were so many activities for them and being a real kiddie resort, they had met loads of other kids. Having said that, eating in the restaurant at night was definately a "kiddie experience" kids kids and more kids. Their final night was spent in an overwater villa, which again they loved and spent much time in the water picking up huge and colourful starfish. We also stayed in a villa for the duration and found it very nice, but I must say that you need to ask for a can of Mortein to be left in the room. The staff were very helpful though and this was no problem and they sent over a platter of fruit to apologise for all the mossies overnight.Loved the pillows marked soft and firm!! The staff were lovely, especially Florence and Isa who all the children adored. The adults found the lunch menu fairly limiting as it was the same at the Pool bar and the reception bar with no other choices, however we spoke with Mark, Food and Bev mgr and he really made an effort to make changes and offer other choices and credited some from the bill. As we are not buffet eaters, we ate a la carte most nights but had the chefs choice buffet on the Sat, which had some nice choices. Jonathon at the pool bar was lovely and helpful, even bringing a buggy along the beach to the towel shed to take us back to the villa during heavy rain.Lim and Sam, (buggy drivers) were lovely, helpful and funny. At the end of the stay I found there had been a staff accounting error on our account and Kimberley sorted this out. A visit to the Waterfalls and also to the Blue Lagoon is a must. I found the taxis expensive 12,000 = $130 aust for 33 kms. Wine from the supermarket (Australian) was cheap about $9, Vodka about $9. A great holiday place for kids, with free tennis, jumping castles, canoes, kayaks, 2 lovely pools, one with buckets water dropping into small pool, outdoor chess and draughts and great kids club activities. If I think about it as a "great kids holiday place" I would rate it 5 for their experience, but as an adult feel it could do with a massive facelift, and have rated it less.

Room Tip: Over water villa is great, and family suite with the bunks are amazing. Ground floor unit overlookin...

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in June for 6 nights. The resort is very well run and the housekeeping was excellent. We dined at the resort on 2 occasions and could not fault the bukffet meals. Breakfast was good and plenty on offer. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. Overall a great stay and would recommend the Resort.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Garden View rooms which were great - close to lobby and restaurant. Would recommend...
