Stayed for 5 nights in a garden view room unfortunately our room overlooked the children's play area, colourful & cheery but not very serene, but this was very quickly fixed by asking for a room change we were then relocated downstairs facing the lagoon which was just perfect. This hotel is great for family's, the children appeared to be well looked after by the staff with plenty of activities to keep them busy and a kids club. Our room was well appointed with everything you need, very modern and clean. As always in Vanuatu the staff are incredible, very friendly and eager to please. If you are going during the school holidays a lot of the activities are booked out so it would be best to book ahead (which i didn't do) but we managed to try the new Ziplining which was fantastic if not a little scary and the caves at Siviri which we only just discovered even though this was our fifth trip, overall a very good trip but I think it would be hard to have a bad one given the beautiful people and scenery. (also it pays to be a Priority Club member at this hotel as you are given a late check out and free internet.)

Room Tip: Ground level rooms have sliding doors onto the garden.

Good Afternoon melefan

Thank you for the review and photos!

Great tip on being a Priority Club Member which not only gives you benefits at Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu but also at the over 4000 hotels IHG has globally and the points never expire. The newly opened Zipline located at the Summit Gardens is quickly becoming one of the must do activities followed by a wood fired pizza at the Summit Cafe!

Look forward to welcoming back for your sixth trip.

My husband and our two children, aged 6 and 2 just spent 7 days in Vanutau, staying at the Holiday Inn. We stayed in a lagoon view room as the family suites were fully booked during the busy school holidays period. I am so glad we did though as the views from our room were just fabulous!! The room had two queen size beds, was well maintained and comfortable, can't fault it really.

The kids club was great, my 6 year old loved it and wanted to go every day! My 2 year old had to have a babysitter, which I asked to look after him in the kids club so he could be with his sister and play with the other kids and he loved it too! The only thing about the babysitting service is that you need to book it in advance, they ask for 24 hours notice although they let me get away with less...it's hard to know when your going to want the kids to go into kids club from the previous day and it's great to just be walking past and drop them in if they are keen to go! We visited the Warwick Le Lagon whilst there and their outdoor play area was just brilliant, but only suitably for older kids 4+ so next time we will stay there I think as we quite liked their pool area a little better too, it had a more relaxing feel to it.

We had breakfast included daily so we ate at the hotel restaurant but the variety was pretty minimal and the food wasn't the best. We only had dinner there 2 of the 7 nights and made an effort to go out for dinner as there are some great restaurants n Vanuatu....Elan, Villa Chaumiers and Tamaru to name a few! I also enjoyed having lunch at the Grand Hotel as it's a nice escape off the streets of Vila when you've had enough of shopping, exploring etc.

Overall Vanutau was a great holiday, lots for everyone to do and very relaxing. The people were really friendly and went out of their way to accomodate you and the Holiday Inn was a good pick, great staff, we enjoyed our time there!

Room Tip: any of the lagoon view rooms are well worth staying in as the views are the main attraction at this...

Good Afternoon HelenStilly

Thank you for the review.

Good to see you got out and about around town and tried many of the fantastic restaurants we have around Port Vila including of one of newest Elan. We are indeed lucky to have so many options for both dining but also over 50+ tours that you can do around Efate.

Look forward to welcoming you back to Vanuatu soon.

Stayed for 2 weeks in this great resort for our 10th wedding anniversary. With my husband and 2 children. The staff are fantastic always with a smile and halo (hello). Management are very hands on. Checking to see if you are having a great time. The concierge staff always helpful with any tour bookings. Reception Staff were very helpful. Food was amazing. Loved the pizza by the pool. Fire dancing on wednesday night is amazing. A must see. We were lucky enough to see it twice. The kids club was great. My kids loved going. Staff in kids club are wonderful. My 3 year old son is very shy with adults. The staff in kids club were wonderful with him. There was always something to do for all ages. My 7 year old daughter loved the weaving and story time. My son loved the crab hunt. It gave my husband time to enjoy time together. We had a massage at the spa. The best I have ever had. My husband 1st massage. Enjoyed the water sport equipment. We can't wait to vist again. We didn't want to go home.

Good Afternoon Lorraine S

Thank you for choosing to spend such an special occasion with us and also for the review.

A wise man named Jack Welch said once ' Every moment you are in your office, you are useless' which is something we strongly believe at the resort. The team in the Totel (kids) Club have an amazing ability to make all the kids feel at ease no matter what the age and let me assure everyone no crabs are harmed during the hunt!

Look forward to welcoming you back to celebrate the next anniversary and 2nd massage.

My husband and I enjoyed a very relaxing seven days at this island paradise in September. The resort is very family friendly and there was indeed a predominance of families with small children when we stayed, however that did not detract from our experience.
Our room was quite spacious and had a lagoon view from a small balcony. Being able to relax on the balcony is important to us and the balconies at the Holiday Inn are barely adequate for this. The outdoor furniture comprised two chairs which were not conducive to relaxing and there was no small table on which to place drinks and snacks. The bathroom was reasonably spacious, however the shower is over the bath and the bath is very deep hence one had to take extreme care getting in and out. People with limited mobility would struggle.
Our room was very clean and it was serviced each day.
The physical environment of the resort is beautiful. Located on the lagoon it has a small man-made island in front of the resort. The main activities area including the pool, was very sheltered and ensured a very safe place for even young children to enjoy the non motorised water craft, of which there were many, including kayaks, small sailing catamarans and paddle boards.
A most enjoyable part of each day for me was to curl up in a hammock under the palm trees with my book. Every so often one of the caring Pool Bar staff would come and check if I would like a drink or snack. The service was faultless throughout our stay. The Happy Hour cocktails were another highlight. A different 'cocktail of the day' was always something to look forward to.
My husband enjoyed many holes of golf. The golf course is a part of the immediate surrounds and although the fairways and greens were in need of mowing and some general TLC, not having to pay extra for hire of clubs and balls (unless you lost a ball) compensated as did the luxury of being able to say "I think I will go and hit a few balls" whenever, and as often as he liked.
Dining was generally enjoyable. We found the Pool Bar and Lobby Bar snack meals were beautiful and good value for money. The one and only restaurant offers both a la carte meals and a buffet each night. The a la carte menu did not change while we were there and was fairly ordinary. Each night the buffet was themed, eg Asian one night, Italian another and so on. Breakfast is only a buffet and provided reasonable variety.
Holiday Inn is approximately a 7-8 min taxi trip into Port Vila and the hilly terrain of the general area makes for a challenging long walk into the town. Probably only for the fittest. Taxis are always at the front door of the resort and the trip is Aust $5 one way. Likewise it is extremely easy to find a taxi or 'bus' ( mini van) in Port Vila for the return trip.
We took several tours which the resort organised for us. They were not too expensive and we felt we received good value for money. Hideaway Island was great for snorkelling. The Cascade Falls were fantastic - an absolute 'must do'. We took an 'Around The Island Tour' which was a wonderful day. With just 6 of us on this tour we were totally spoilt by Olivier our guide and Mantis our driver. We visited the beautiful Blue Lagoon, a lovely little school where we welcomed into the classrooms and we had an amazing 'island' lunch prepared for us in a village by Olivier's lovely Uncle and Auntie who welcomed us into their home.
We used Melanesian Tours for our transfers from and to the airport. This I booked online before we left Australia and I believe the cost is much the same as taxis. The advantage was we were whisked away to the Holiday Inn within minutes of stepping through customs, and likewise on our last day they were on time to collect us for the return to the airport.
Thank you Holiday Inn for a wonderfully relaxing and memorable holiday.

Room Tip: The Lagoon View rooms provide a true resort feel, however the Garden View rooms have a very relaxing...

Good Afternoon Dianna_04

Thank you for your review and comments about the destination.

As you found you can do a significant amount of activities both on resort but also in the close proximity to us. With over 10 hammocks around the resort you certainly can find a nice quiet palm tree to spend your time or is it forget time.

Hope to welcome you back to Vanuatu in the near future.

The food was amazing, staff so friendly always with a smile, and overall it was a fantastic 7 nights spent there.
Internet is very expensive and should be included in price, price for drinks not cheap although they do have happy hours with half price drinks.
Looking forward to going back in 12 months.
Keep up the good work, its a credit to all the management, well done and thanks for a fantastic holiday

Just returned from a week at this great resort with the family of 2 teenage kids and highly recommend it. Facilities and service in general were fantastic. All staff were friendly and eager to please. Management staff also went above-and-beyond to make guests feel welcome and were very hands-on and visible. Loved the availability of the water sports equipment (kayak, catamaran, paddle boards, etc). Staff at the activities centre were simply wonderful with our teenagers, often participating in our beach volleyball matches and encouraging the kids to play. Food was great - in all locations. Enjoyed the fire-dancing night immensely!! I also enjoyed catching up and chatting with the management staff at drinks one evening (Priority Club Members).

A couple of down-sides:
The room we had was very noisy - as commented by others. We had middle floor room (#211) - with adjoining door - and had noise from next room (baby crying!), above (toddlers jumping on floor at 6:00am) and sounds of walking (running) children along the corridor which made sleeping in past 6:30am impossible on most days (guess that's to be expected during Aust school holiday time?). Air-conditioning was not that effective (inconsistent temperature), so ceiling fan at low speed is recommended.
The condition of the golf course is average due to issue with the type of grass. The grass is long on most fairways (lose balls on the fairway) and greens were not in good condition. Believe this is a known-issue to management.
However, don't let these down-sides impact your assessment. Our overall rating is excellent, and we all looking forward to another visit.

Room Tip: Go for a top-floor room with no adjoining door, and not next to the stairs.

Thank you for the 'sensational' review.

Great to see the activities team continue to have as much as the guests! We are currently upgrading the greens on the golf course ready for your next visit. We continue to work on the interconnecting door sound proofing and are currently trialing several different types of insulation.

Look forward to welcoming yo all back to Vanuatu in the near future.

My stay at the Holiday Inn resort in Vanuatu was for work purposes, and was the location of the workshop I was co-presenting. The venue was beautiful (the entrance and reception area are very impressive), the setting and facilities delightful. The conference coordinator was wonderful and the attendees were very impressed. It was also great at the end of the day to relax by the water, lazing in a hammock under the coconut palms, and just enjoying the setting. Seems to be a very popular place for young families, and no wonder with the facilities they have. Only gripe was that the service can be slow when ordering a la carte meals; but if you aren't in a hurry, then just sit back and enjoy the ambience. However, room service was very quick for my dinner. Can't wait to return with my wife for a holiday next time (instead of going for work).

Room Tip: I was fortunate to have a room overlooking the lagoon, and on the ground floor so could just walk ou...
