“Relaxing Week”
Reviewed March 17, 2012

We have just returned from a great week at the Holiday Inn - it is a fantastic resort with plenty to do for everyone.

After staying there almost 20 years ago, I really noticed how the recent renovations have brought the resort up to a high standard. Both pools are great, with the smaller 'adults' pool a nice touch and a must if you want some 'time out'! The rooms are a reasonable size - not huge by any means, but again have been renovated well. It is worth the upgrade to the Lagoon View as it is such a lovely outlook.

The restaurant area is a real highlight as you have that wonderful view to look at whilst having breakfast. Dinner was great with prices being on par with other restaurants in Port Vila. Speaking of which, this was the one thing that we found 'up there' in price with costs to eat/drink out in Vanuatu on par with those in Australia.

The staff and management are all wonderful and will do anything for you, with the Wednesday night drinks a nice touch. It is great to see the management so 'visible' around the place too.

Make sure you utilise buses for where you need to go in and around Port Vila as at 150VT per person it's good value, plus to get a feel for how the locals get about.

Overall Holiday Inn Vanuatu is a well located, well priced resort suitable for couples and families with excellent staff and facilities!

Room Tip: Top floor overlooking the pool area ensures a great view if you are on the lagoon side.

Good Afternoon Vaflyboi

Thank you for the review.

The bus's are certainly very cost effective way to get around the island and certainly puts in direct contact with the fantastic people who live here on Efate.

Hopefully we see you before 20 years elapse again!

Thankyou HIR Vanuatu for a fantastic getaway with friends and family. We actually stayed there last year during the renovations and vowed and delcared we would be back to see the end result.. WOW what a difference a year makes. The resort is AMAZING. On our arrival we were greeted by the most friendly staff who remembered us from the previous year, that for us added that personal touch to our stay. The staff have certainly stepped up the service levels now that the resort is a Holiday Inn brand. Well done to the management team. The menu and staff in the restaurant is second to none. The kiddies pool is fantastic and needless to say so is the enormous bar pool. The kids club is fantastic and very well equipped to entertain children day in and day out. There are endless activities to choose from on a daily basis so you never get board. We had an inspection of the resort rooms and they have been renovated beautifully. We chose to stay in the Villa's out over the water. They are beautiful. Diving off the front steps into the lagoon for an early morning swim on a daily basis was wonderful (no sharks or crocodiles). We actually chose to swim across the lagoon occassionally with our fins to have lunch by the pool and swim back to burn it off. We thouroughly enjoyed all of our tours thanks to the wonderful service at the tour desk. Enough said. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou to the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu management and staff for making our holiday the most enjoyble in a long time.

My wife and I took a 7 day break at the Holiday Inn. We were pleasantly surprised by the resort. It offered spacious clean quiet rooms. We had a garden room on the second floor. The curtains fully blocked out the morning sun, which was a bonus to sleep in. The air conditioning was quiet, with a ceiling fan if needed. It was too far to walk into Port Villa but taxis were on stanby at the front entrance. It costs $6 into town.
The buffet breakfasts were great and the view from the dining room is fantastic overlooking both the lagoon and pool areas.
There were enough free activities on offer to keep you as active as you wanted to be or lounge chairs and hamocks for those that just wantede to chill. We enjoyed taking the catamarans out each afternoon on the lake system that the resorts lagoon met up with.

Room Tip: The garden view room was quiet with solid walls that kept ajoining room noise out. There were no fre...

To Thomas and all the wonderful Staff, Thank you from all of us!!!! We had an awesome time at the resort and also in Vanuatu. What a beautiful place to visit we thoroughly enjoyed everything and can't wait to return for another visit. The resort was everything that we hoped it would be and the fact that there were only about 30 guests in total was a real bonus, some days we even had the whole pool to ourselves. Food, service, activities, everything was perfect. Thanks again to you all for a fantastic holiday!! and a big hello to Zara and Kirra it was a pleasure to meet you both and we hope we see you again soon from the Wescombe Family xoxox

Our experience with Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu was fantastic from the very start. We arrived with 4 kids late at night and immediately felt relieved at being picked up from the airport without needing to worry about cabs or figuring out where we needed to go.

We had perfect weather the whole week and spent loads of time at the pool and other water activities. Despite it being school holidays and quite busy, the hotel and surrounding environment are so spacious, you never felt like you were invading anyone else's space!

The hotel team were great at offering suggestions to explore the island, organizing a dive, seeing the turtles, and other off site activities.

The meals and drinks were great and prices really reasonable. Often when you stay at a resort the prices are inflated, but not the case here. The couple of times we ate out of the resort were actually more expensive.

We had 2 adjoining rooms (unfortunately the family suites weren't available yet) and this was fine for us. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are a decent size with big bath and plenty of bench space.

Kids club was definitely one of the major pluses! We initially felt guilty about booking the kids in when we did our dive, but every day after they asked what time they could go there! They had great activities and got an opportunity to experience the local culture.

Overall a fantastic holiday! Would definitely go back!!

Room Tip: The family suites looked great!

Thank for such a great review!

Sounds like the Resort and destination left a lasting impression. The family suites are on-line and in high demand so book early for your return visit.

The fantastic team in the Kids Club have caused a few broken hearts over the years with many of the Kids sad to go and many wanting to take the team with them.

Look forward to welcoming you all back to Vanuatu in the near future.

We went in Feb (wet season) and there were 15 guests to the whole resort which has about 300 rooms, this meaning we had everything to ourself!
Rooms were great, staff were friendly and food was awesome. Prices for food were similar to Australia and with Port Vila being quiet small we ate all our meals at the resort. In five nights we spent approx $800AUD on food and drinks which is a lot but we couldn't fault anything.
We went to the day spa twice once for a 30min massage the other for a couples massage package which included 1hr massage each on the balcony of an over water bungalow then a coconut milk spa bath complete with rose petals, champange and chocolate coated bananas. Definately something to do if you want to spend a relaxing day with your loved one!
Overall we rated this holiday experience 10/10 for a relaxing getaway...will definately be going back!

Where to start!

Upon entering we were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff at the Holiday Inn, one of which was in traditional dress of the land. We were then promptly checked in to our Lagoon View Room. The room itself was small-mid size but was comfortable. The bathroom was adequate, with a good shower, well lit basin and modern finishing’s. The view from the balcony was excellent and the air conditioning worked a treat. A small fridge was supplied but with only a kettle (no toaster or microwave) the chance for any type of cooking in the room was low.

The restaurant was modern with a beautiful view down to the pool and lagoon. The food was priced similarly to Australia and was of a decent quality, although something’s were slightly overcooked. The highlight of the food was the buffet breakfast of which there was everything you could imagine!

The facilities such as the pool were fantastic with 2 pools to choose from both set in beautiful surroundings. You could take out a kayak anytime and paddle around the safe lagoon at your leisure or have a hit of tennis. The only let down was the "gym" facility, which was very limited with only a single rower, bike and elliptical with weight stack up to 10kg. If you like to work out all year round (as I do) this was disappointing.

All in all the Holiday Inn typified what Vanuatu was for me-a relaxing beautiful place filled with many smiling faces. Definitely worth a trip!

P.S. If you go in the wet season be prepared for some rain but it is almost a constant 30 deg so it is never much of a worry!

Room Tip: If you choose the Vila although they are bigger, they are on the other side of the resort and are no...
