Our family (couple with a teenage child) just returned from a 5 day stay at Nasama Resort, staying in the two bedroom Sea-View apartment, and we truly enjoyed staying at Nasama.
The property is located a fair way (~ 4km) outside of town, but there are plenty of local "buses" available to take you in and back (look for the vans with a red "B" on the licence plate, cost 150V pp). Transfer from the Airport by Taxi is quite expensive (3000V), so buses are definitely THE way to get around.
The upstairs apartment was fairly new, huge and well appointed. The rooms were clean and tastefully furnished with good quality furniture, appliances and finishes (loved the shutters!). The rooms look just like the photos on the website (which is a nice change). Little touches like the hibiscus flowers flowers we nice and gave us a great first impression.
The kitchen was basic, but adequate... and got a real work out, as Nasama does not have an on-site restaurant. There is generally good access to the hotels WiFi (although a little patchy inside the concrete rooms!) The property also has a shared, gas fired plate barbecue near the pool area.
A large supermarket (Au Bon Marche) is a short bus ride (3km, <5 minutes) towards town and is well stocked (food is relatively expensive compared to Sydney). There is also a small "convenience" store a few minutes walk down the road for top ups. Another resort (Breakers) is a 10 minute walk down the road and has a good restaurant, but it may be a little daunting to walk down for dinner in the dark.
The pool is simply sensational, a real centre piece for the property and a joy to use. The beach is small, but clean and has sufficient sand to allow you to walk in without using reef shoes. The resort faces South East and so cops a fair bit of wind, but it won't stop you from finding a nice spot near the pool or beach to relax.
I'm not sure if I'd class Nasama as a "resort"... there is no restaurant, bar or gym, but a massage can be arranged at the beach side hut, and there are three kayaks that can be used by guests for free.
The staff were great; friendly, helpful and efficient.
I would definitely recommend Nasama for more "independent" travellers, who want to have a
nice place to stay & relax after enjoying the sights & experiences of Vanuatu!

Room Tip: Two Bedroom Seaview rooms are excellent! Try and get a top floor room if possible - just for the views!

My wife and I recently (6/9 to 17/9/13) had a wonderful 11 day stay at Nasama. Elizabeth and Ashley could not do enough for us. We stayed in room 202 a one bed ground level overlooking the ocean. I would probably stay in a first floor next time. It was quiet until people moved in upstairs and it was like a party with baby elephants. Annie and Alice were fantastic housemaids.
Buses run all day and only cost 150vt in the local area and a little more for further afield, so don't pay more than a few hundred each person to go out to any restaurants. I would definitely recommend Nasama for a quieter relaxing holiday. It does get a bit blowy on this side of the peninsular but I think that would be welcomed in the hotter months.

Room Tip: The one beds are a bit dearer but worth it. As said earlier go for upstairs as the noise just from walking is loud below.

Stayed for 9 nights as part of our honeymoon.
If there are onshore winds the pool and ocean rock pool are not sheltered. Makes snorkelling and kayaking impossible. Unfortunately there is no restaurant but the the kitchens are well set out and equipped for cooking with Breakas restaurant 5 mins walk away. They also have a BBQ area and laundry for use and large comfortable rooms with a view.

The rooms are very clean, big and well set out with a great view of the pool and ocean and daily room service for tidying and cleaning. Like anyone in Vanuatu the staff were more then helpful and do anything to ensure you enjoyed your stay.

Where the resort is located gives excellent access to port villa but is far enough away that you don't get the smell or sound of the city. Cost 150vt per person (approx au $1.80) per trip by bus to anywhere within the city area. Well worth the stay and recommended.

Room Tip: Top floors have a great balcony and you walk around to the pool/beach, and bottom rooms have access directly on beach and pool area with outdoor area.

This resort is perfect for anyone wanting to stay somewhere that's self catering. Close enough to town that shopping and sightseeing is easy, yet far enough away for it to be quiet and peaceful. The staff are lovely and helpful and the rooms were neat and comfy. Definitely recommended!

Stayed for a week late August. Had an upstairs studio room which we had requested. Great view of the pool and lagoon and sea. Everything was clean. Kitchenette was basic but adequate. Staff very friendly and organised excursions and guests seems to enjoy their recommendations. Excellent free wi-fi. Pool area is lovely and we enjoyed using the kayaks. Only negative was that hot water ran cool at night, but hopefully that is fixed by now. Good washing machine and tumble drier available for a small charge.
Never had to wait more than 90secs for a bus into town. They generally look ramshackle, but the roads are so potholed that they can't go fast enough to get into trouble!
The resort has small shop, but its very cleverly stocked with basic provisions including wine and beer. There is a local shop about 200m towards Breakas which is good for bread and extras. If a lady has set up a table next to the shop selling local bread, you must try it. Absolutely delicious. Bon march supermarket in no2 district has an excellent butchery and French groceries. We barbecued fantastic scotch filet for 1080vatu/kg (same price for rump or sirloin). Leader price supermarket no2 is best for nz and aus brands. Groceries are expensive, but no more so than other pacific islands. I was impressed with the uptodate selection of Dvd's for hire at reception.
Would highly recommend day trip to hideaway island for snorkelling, which includes lunch and snorkel safari and glassbottomed boat trip (reception will book). It's very good value and not worth the hassle of organising your own transport.
This is not a full amenities resort, so will not suit if you want night life and action! But for a relaxing break it fits the bill perfectly.

Room Tip: Prefer upstairs studio room- can leave damp things on the airer (provided) when you go out, and you get better view-unobstructed by vegetation.
