Our family was recommended to try Élan restaurant on our trip to Vanuatu. Our friend George D had told us on many occasions that this restaurant was the best.
With the great menu and fabulous customer service we had the best time ever. The most relaxing and enjoyable meal I have had in years.

“Pacific Island Food and a great outlook...”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We chose this restaurant on recommendation from friends and from Trip adviser. I wanted to go somewhere with great ambience but also serving local food. We were not disappointed.

We had a table right by the water and while the sun had already set we chilled out with wine watching hermit crabs on the beach while we waited for our food that was cooked to order.

I had the poulet in banana leaf and loved it. I had been warned that local dishes are always done better in Vanuatu so all my fellow diners stuck with island style dishes.

The waiting staff were very attentive, young and bit shy but really lovely. The owners were great and very happy to chat and filled us in on some places to see and life as expats in paradise.

A great evening and definitely a change of pace from the other restaurants on the island.

The evening was a total delight. The setting sun was breathtaking we just watched it go.!
The decor perfect for the environment,we sat in the outdoor section just above the sand and water, the food was delicious and the owner Darryl came and spoke with us, very friendly.
All in all an extremely lovely evening and a total delightful weekend visit to port Vila and escape from Oz cold weather.
We recommend this restaurant .

“Beautiful Dining”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

We visited a number of food eateries on our visit and were disappointed with most.

Finally we were speaking to some ex-pats who recommended elan to us and we were not disappointed.

The decor really has the 'wow' factor, absoutely beautiful. We were given a table right by the waters edge, perfect.
The service was very attentive, the owner also made us feel very welcome.

The food was of international standard, our problem is the menu was so good, we couldn't decided what to have, now wish we had discovered this place early on in our visit, so we could have worked our way through the menu.

If this establishment was in Sydney would be there every week!

The restaurants appearance and ambience is wonderful, obviously a lot of thought went into the venue, which given the general standard of eateries in vanuatu was a welcome sight. The host was very friendly and made us feel welcome, however service very slow and the food was merely ok, and didnt really reflect the expensive price tag. Starters were nothing amazing, two of the party had beef wellington for mains and the steak in both was very overcooked, so not as good as expected. Others in the party had the paella and there was ample supply of baguette for soaking up the sauce, although it stated there were scallops in the paella, none were found in either. There is also a 5% surcharge on credit cards which I think is a little excessive given that most establishments charge 3.5% at most. Such a shame as good restaurants appear to be few and far between in Vanuatu.
