The restaurant is situated on the beach overlooking beautiful aqua waters and enjoys the best sunsets in Port Vila. We pride ourselves on sourcing as much of the freshest locally grown produce as possible, including we believe and our customers agree the best free range grass fed beef in the world. My wife and I visited for dinner, so missed any view of the ocean and Ifira Island. Ambience rather nice. The service was only reasonable as the Ni-Van waitress is not well trained by Australian standards. My meal of pork was excellent but my wife said her poulet was a little too fatty. Price was reasonable. We would like to go again in the daytime.

Me and my husband Colin went here on our first night in Vanuatu and only ate dinner here from then on. The restaurant is beautiful and you sit above the beach looking out at the water. The staff are amazing and we had some great chats with them. The food was so nice that my husband said he would fly to Vanuatu just to have dinner there. The prawn skewers are a must to try. The stay there is so relaxed and beautiful that you want to stay there all night. It's a gem hidden away that we would never have found unless we read trip advisor. If you are in Vanuatu please give this restaurant a try. We will definitely be back!!

I took my fiancé here after the reviews on Trip Advisor. We Went on a week night (Friday night).

It is a little out of the way, but easy to get there via taxi, taxi drivers are very accommodating, with a pick up and drop off service. Our guy Maxwell was very friendly and helpful.

Service = slowish
View = awesome ( would have been better on a sunny day )
Food = good.
Price = cheaper than we thought.
Decor = very nice

Definitely recommend for a romantic night out.

Elan was truely beautiful. What a magic location with a beautiful view as the sun sets. The menu is lovely. We took our children and although there was no children's menu they were happy to do any of the dishes at half price for the kids. My daughter wanted to try the lobster for mains and they even did that for her half price. The wine list was quite extensive and not overly priced.

The owner came out to see the patrons at his restaurant and was a lovely guy. The decor in this restaurant is beautiful and our table right on the waters edge was better than I could have hoped for.

We had high expectations with all the positive reviews and there were only 2 other tables occupied on a Saturday night so maybe we should have been wary.
Food: ‘Peking Duck Pancakes’ entrée should be renamed as it bore no resemblance to any Peking Duck pancake we have had anywhere else in the world. Three small damp pancakes with a thick piece of spring onion, a thin piece of duck meat (not crispy skin with a layer of meat as it should be) with some strange sauce (not hoisin) squirted over them was poor value at 1800vt. The Tuna Carpaccio 1600vt did not taste fresh and appeared pale & waterlogged. It had a strange dressing of spring onion, capers, tomato and what looked like Thousand Island dressing.
The Mains were both overcooked and overpriced for the quality including soggy pastry on the done to death Beef Wellington 2700vt (no steak knife was provided which made it hard to eat even half before it was cold) and the Garlic Prawns 2900vt was 8 hard little prawns in garlic spring onion and cream sauce with claggy rice and what appeared to be their signature cabbage salad/garnish. The waitress said Chef apologized for the rice as it had been ‘microwaved again’ when we started to comment on the meal. Hmmm. We saw another table get the Lobster Stack 3800vt which looked like 3 wonton wrappers deep fried with a bit of lobster salad in between each wonton and was glad I didn’t choose it! There are better waterfront restaurants and meals to be had in PV. Any romance of the setting was negated by people walking up through the side laneway from the water coughing up and spitting. We won't be back.

I would like to take this opportunity to reply to your review.
Firstly, we are not a Chinese Restaurant, hence the duck pancakes are made to our own version of this dish, however, we do use hoisin sauce. This dish is 1600Vatu and is ordered many times over by the same customers. We also use local duck which of course is going to be different to the frozen imported duck.
As for the tuna Carpaccio, we only use the freshest ingredients available and it is made with capers, tomato and a homemade dressing NOT Thousand Island dressing.
Not sure how your mains were overcooked except perhaps the rice. Once again our steaks are famous for being so tender that you do not even need a steak knife. However, one was provided to you before your main courses had arrived.
As we only use fresh local prawns and NOT the frozen Chinese imported ones, the size of the prawns varies from day to day and for this dish we usually allow between 6 – 10 prawns depending on the size. So we apologise for you only receiving 8 medium sized fresh prawns.
You obviously have an issue when you feel it necessary to comment on a dish delivered to another customers table. The Lobster Stack is one of our signature dishes, the customers who come back repeatedly for this dish comment on the generous size of the lobster provided, which is cooked in a special sauce not a salad. Likewise you would have also not been able to see from a distance that we DO NOT use “wonton wrappers” in this dish.
As the beaches are still public property in Vanuatu, the locals are allowed to walk past if they choose. To be honest we have never had any comments on this from anyone before.
We do our best at elan to provide the best fresh local produce we can and to maintain the quality we have been recognised for since we opened. Our customers repeatedly come back for their favourite dishes time and time again, this is one of the reasons we have maintained our position as the number 1 restaurant in Vanuatu.
