I didn't really know what to expect when I booked for this tour. I thought it might be a bit of a tourist trap rip-off, but in fact it turned out to be a very pleasant and informative afternoon. The thing is that it is a real village, and not some sham mock-up thing, and the villagers actually live there, and not in air-conditioned bungalows in a suburb, who commute into the place. It's a working village, and that is what gives it that authentic flavour and historical relevance. There were only 5 of us all told on the tour, so it was small and intimate. We were given aerosol mossie repellent to use which was a nice touch. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and welcomed questions and I learnt a good deal about the Vanuatu villages, people, life-styles, customs and history. We were treated to some great music and dancing and got to taste some of the local foods. It was all very professional and well presented, and the Ekasup Village is definitely well worth a visit.
