I am a resident of Havannah Harbour and I have been going to this fabulous restaurant since its first opening some 5 years ago. I must say that they never stop surprising me on how lovely the dining experience can be. I had dinner at The Point restaurant a few nights ago and I so much enjoyed the night once again. We dined outdoor and the atmosphere of the lit Christmas tree and the amazing views of the harbour was delightful. Both of us being keen 'foodies', we really enjoyed the entrée of bread and mix dips, as well as the delicious duck and perfectly cook beef fillet with prawns. The staff is very well trained and all boys and girls were professional as well as smiling and friendly. The Management must be doing an excellent job! Thank you for a lovely night and I'll be coming back as often as I can.

We have just returned from 10 days at The Havannah Hotel and Frederick, Victoria and the team exceeded all of our expectations for a South Pacific Island Beach Holiday. While it is part of the culture in Vanuatu to be friendly and caring, the team takes it to the next level. The staff all know your name and Frederick personally greets you each morning and evening at breakfast and dinner and to check if everything with your holiday is going well. The chefs and kitchen staff create amazing food with excellent variety - we only ate away on one evening and it wasn't as good as at the hotel.

The restaurant is effectively open all day (great for sleep ins) and evening and so you can always get something to eat or drink - coffee and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice are highlights. You can also ask for fresh drinking coconuts. The setting at the restaurant overlooking the jetty and sea is amazing and you instantly feel totally relaxed.

We have stayed in the top hotels in Nusa Dua Bali, Fiji, Maldives, Red Sea, Noosa, Byron, Port Douglas and this place leaves them in its wake.

If you need to escape the stresses of modern life including kids without a long haul flight from Oz and enjoy great food and hospitality then this is the place to come. Activities we did included world class scuba diving (Tranquility Resort), sailing (South Sea Vagabond with Simon), massages at the spa, free snorkelling/sailing a Hobicat or just lying on the beach, taking in the sunset on the free cruise, and viewing the Milky Way each evening. All paid activities were excellent. We also had the privilege of a rare Dugong visit the jetty and to visit the Hawksbill turtle rookery while we were there.

The highlight however was not having to do anything and having total peace & quiet and running on 'Vanuatu Time'. There is no compulsion to mix with the other guests if you don't want to and you generally only see them at meal times. While it isn't cheap we thought it was amazing value for money if you compare it with other island holidays at this level of luxury in Australia or elsewhere in the Pacific or Indian oceans. If you are looking to save some money, we had a garden villa which was very peaceful and then used to lie by the pool or on the beach all day - plenty of lounges and umbrellas.

We will definitely be going back!

Stayed in a Lagoon Pool Villa no 10 for five nights from May 5 . Due to flight problems we were delayed 12 hours in Sydney so did not arrive at the resort until 3.30am but local village staff were on hand to provide a warm and friendly welcome which set the tone for the duration of our stay. We were there to celebrate a friends birthday and he and his wife stayed in a beachfront villa. Both types of accommodation were very private and very well fitted out but we probably liked the pool villa best with the swimming pool only a few steps from our door. The resort has a superb Vietnamese chef who can cook anything on request as well as whats on the extensive menu. The location is outstanding while accommodation, restaurant, bar service are all first class. We have stayed at many resorts around the world and this one is right up there particularly if your after an exclusive, romantic location where there are only 15 couples maximum occupancy. Managers Frederick and Victoria are to be congratulated for providing such a high caliber experience while all staff without exception were extremely friendly and could not do enough to please. Our vacation was pure indulgence so did not do any fitness activities except snorkeling but noticed there is an excellent tennis court and heaps of water sport activities for those inclined. Wonderful experience that we will never forget and looking forward to going again.
Thank you Frederick, Victoria and all staff.

My Mum and Dad have just returned from six days at The Havannah having had the most wonderful time celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary and combined birthdays.

I arranged this holiday hoping they would have a luxurious time, surrounded by warmth and generosity and this is exactly what they experienced. Everything my parents describe about the accommodation, the staff and the amenities is testament to the reviews on this site that convinced me that The Havannah was the ideal destination for such a celebration.

I can't thank Victoria and Frederick and all the other staff Mum and Dad have talked so fondly of; Jonathan, Betty, Edna, Lilly, Julie, Madelane, Terry, Paul, Morrow, Henry, Cathy...there are so many more including the people on Moso Island.

Brilliant stuff. I can't thank everyone at The Havannah enough.

Warm regards,
Cathy
(on behalf of John and Joyce)

Room Tip: Mum and Dad stayed in Villa 15 on the harbour, closest to the restaurant. Not noisy, beautiful views.

We stayed for 7 nights at The Havannah - I will break down our experience.

Arrived at around 4pm on a Sunday, greeted nicely and given a drink and a bit of a rundown on the resort by one of the young girls and then shown to our room.

Accommodation: We stayed in Lagoon Pool Villa #7. The room was good, and had lovely flowers, toiletries etc. and excellent high quality linens. You can choose to have your sheets changed every day or when you required. In general, the rooms are a little tired and the lagoon villa's lacked comfortable seating arrangements. If you did order room service, you would have no where to actually relax and eat it except on your lap. It would appear that the waterfront villa's do have a seperate lounge area, and this would have suited us better. Soap ran out on the second day and was never replaced so we just used the liquid soap - I am sure if I had requested more soap it would have arrived immediately, but I never got around to it - I kept thinking it will be replaced next time. Rooms are airconditioned and screened which is a huge plus in Vanuatu and we did not suffer from any bugs, mosquitos etc at all. Great to be able to slip directly into the beautiful pool from your villa.

Food / The Point Restaurant:
We had all meals in the resort. Given the location of The Havannah, you really do not have any choice. This was not a bad thing as the food on the whole was very good. Lots of variety. Breakfasts were great - basket of freshly baked breads and pastries to eat while you wait for your order - we normally ordered eggs done in different ways and fresh fruit salad - all well prepared and delicious. Fresh grapefruit juice was amazing!
Dinner menu variety lasted through the 7 days no problem, as there was also a special menu done up everyday by Peter, the chef. Standout dishes were the crepe's, grilled lobster, and although we are not huge beef eaters, the Vanuatu beef is very special - all beef and veal dishes were topshelf.
Service here was always very attentive. Staff are well trained, and we only had a couple of small hiccups throughout our stay which were handled efficiently. Special mention to the staff here go to Michael, Jonathan, Lily and Julie - Michael was excellent.

Services/Activities:
The beach at The Havannah is very true to the photo's you see. Lovely white sand and the water was turquoise and crystal clear. Snorkelling directly off the resort beach was always fun and I felt like I was in an aquarium - lots of variety of fish and sealife. No sharks!
We used the snorkelling gear (which was in good order) and the hobby cat for sailing. It was nice just hanging out on the beach lounges and relaxing. We had a great day of sailing on the Vagabond sail cat. This was super - great snorkelling spot and like any day you have out sailing, just a relaxing time. Recommend this trip for sure on a Friday.
Husband had a massage at the spa - this was nice, nothing special.
There are many trips and excursions that you can book through reception. We did not do these as we were after more of a relaxing time, but reading through the book you could participate in a huge variety of excursions and tours on the island.
We did go on the private picnic to the island opposite - this was dismal. Tide was out, smelly mud flat and lots of midgies.

Gardens are beautiful and the reception and restaurant are housed in a stunning open air pavilion - very tropical. Staff in general were all very well trained and very happy, calling you by your name whenever they met you. Managers were friendly and hands on - Frederick & Victoria, and were always available if required. Met some lovely people from Australia - all Aussies and New Zealanders while we were there.

I think to sum it up, we were a little underwhelmed with our week away. Everything was very pleasant but nothing was truly outstanding - Food was very good, but you paid for it. 7 days of lunch and dinner with bottle of wine at dinner added up to about $1900.00, so be prepared. We also felt that the cost of accommodation was too high - we paid 5 star price for a 4 star room.
I booked this holiday in the main from reading the reviews - I think some of you guys out there are a little too easily pleased.

Dear Julie D
Thank you for your feed back and descriptive review of the Havannah. I have spoken to our housekeeping team to use their check list to ensure all in room amenities are topped up every day. I was surprised by your comment on the location of the picnic but I have only seen it as mid to high tide and never at low tide so I will go and look for alternative beach for when the tide is out.
Food and beverage is expensive in Vanuatu, mainly as many ingredients have to be imported either by ships or planes, topped with import tax makes the raw product dearer than being on a mainland but when you break it down, it averages at $270 per day, for two people, lunch and dinner and a bottle of wine plus odd drinks. In closing, you need to admit that what we have achieve for a Pacific destination is pretty special. People who know and understand the Pacific are not too easily pleased, they simply appreciate that life here as its moments, nothing is easy, time is slow and they are appreciative of all our efforts, training and hard work.
I do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back at the Havannah.
Kind regards
Frederick
