I ate here with my Scottish friend that I had travelled with in Vanuatu. We chose to eat here on our last night together in the country, so we could spoil ourselves a little after having roughed it the day prior. I have to say the views for this restaurant were great, and we got a great table with fantastic ocean views. The food, although Sydney prices, was fantastic and it was nice to eat a decent wholesome meal with fresh vegetables. The staff were well presented and highly courteous and the atmosphere with the piano playing in the background made it a stunning night.

We had the 1000vatu lunch here twice in our recent stay. Both times the service was great and the food was too. Between all if us I think we tried everything on the menu and there were no complaints! Something for everyone on the menu, fried rice was huge, Caesar salad was great too, my kids loved the sub type sandwhich too. Easy enough to cash in vouchers given for the casino, so effectively lunch was 600 vatu. Staff were most helpful, even offering alternative suggestions to our group when they had a function on. The location is great, a wonderful view in air conditioned comfort.

The Grand has one of the nicest atmosphere's in town with plush seating, live piano music a couple of times a week and complimentary snacks during happy hour. Hemisphere (the bar on the top floor) is gorgeous with great sunset views and good wine list.

Crystals on the other hand is a bit of a disaster . I have been there a couple of times for the lunch special when the venue has been chosen by others. I am yet to find an option that is even mildly enjoyable. Last time I ordered fish and chips. Cold, soggy mush with 3 small bits of poor quality fish cocktails served on a bread plate.

The Grand has a lot of potential - the management should look to improve the kitchen.

We have stayed at The Grand in Port Vila four times now and at our recent 10 night stay were delighted with the restaurant changes at Crystals.
They have introduced an A$10 lunch deal (approximately 1000vt). For 1000vt you will receive lunch and then 400vt (approximately A$4) poker machine credit in the Casino so really the lunch is 600vt (approximately $6). Great Value! At our recent stay at the Grand this was the lunch menu – Burger, Caesar Salad with Calamari, Pasta of the Day, Fish & Chips, Asian special fried rice, Subway style Chicken or Ham rolls and chips. We also found that they had some great bar specials e.g. Tusker (local beer which is very good) is 300vt (approx A$3) which went down very well in the lovely air conditioned Crystals, in the lobby bar or even the Casino. Also, some very good wine by the glass at 600vt (approx A$6).
Khadag, the Chef and the Grand is doing a terrific job. We enjoyed not only our breakfasts, but a few $10 lunches and several dinners and we found the food very, very good. The location is wonderful and the restaurant is charming. The staff, including Mary (Supervisor), Graham, Jenny and Anna are very attentive and genuinely lovely people with beautiful smiles. If you decide to visit Crystals we hope you enjoy your visit to and would be happy to answer any questions.
