We stayed a few nights at the Tamanu on the Beach. It was one of our highlights staying in Vanuatu. We tried a night in a coral wall villa and another beach front large studio. The food was amazing. The staff were so lovely, a special shout out to Jane and Nicholas who were so warm and helpful. The beach does have the prevailing wind so not a great snorkel or swim area, but if a gentle breeze is actually a good thing as you sit on the beach or pool. Not ideal for families with young children as it’s about relaxing here. This is a great venue for wedding or couples for sure. It’s been voted many local awards for a good reason. Having a private bonfire, nibbling on canapés after sunset was a highlight. Thank you Tamanu! We will be back.

Thanks Steve

it was a pleasure having you.

We are famous for our large whitesand beach and our sunset walks and that breeze is an absolute lifesaver in summer.

For kids the good news is we have our Kokonas Kids Club now open and the only year round 5 star family friendly resort in Vanuatu.

Glad you will be back and we will have one of bonfires ready just for you.

Tropical regards

Bong

Tamanu is a classy resort. Highlights of our stay there are;
1. The food (Chef whips up some delights which are arguably the best on the island!).
2. The staff: The real gem of this resort are the staff. Friendly is an understatement and always willing to drop everything to help make your stay better
3. The rooms: large and perfect for the relaxing time

Thank you to all the Tamanu staff from us (5 month old Harvey is having Tamanu withdrawals!)

Room tip: Ocean-front rooms are amazing.

We stayed in the large villa next door but popped in here for our coffees & had 2 dinners here , both delicious , fresh local ingredients, seared tuna , fish in banana leaf , generous portion sizes & delightfully friendly staff . Wine list whilst not extensize , had some great choices and was reasonably priced .

Dont let the distance from Port Via put you off staying here, we had a magical few days. The staff are great and well trained, nothing was too much trouble. The food was wnjoyable and a good selection.

The view... stunning. The staff... mostly so lovely. The food... delicious.

The cost of food was a little pricey though.. I understand resort prices, but these were a little more than usual. The food was delicious though. Everything. Please let me reiterate that!

The villa - we had a coral sea front. Ours seemed to be the winner of the lot and if/when we come back, we will be asking for the same villa again. We had a lot of space and stunning breezes in our room. It was very clean and cleaned every single day. The negatives - several of the shutters did not have hooks or bolts to secure them, so constantly were banging in the sea wind. The pillow were not of very good quality. They were very flat and very hard. I would suggest the pillows need a clean also as one of them smelled really badly of mildew. As did the closest with the safe. The smell of mildew was unbearable in here.

The resort. Again, stunning views but I feel the pool is wasted. It seems secluded from everything and just feels 'unhappy' compared to the rest of the resort. We did not spend much time at all in this area. We were lucky we had most of the resort booked out for a wedding, so we felt very comfortable with people walking by our room, joining us for dinner etc. I think if we came here alone, the 'seclusion' would be lacking.

Adult only resort - allowed kids to stay. We didn't mind as they were there for a wedding, but if we were here outside of the wedding, we would be disappointed. Kids weren't just with our group - more arrived in the last day we were there.

Despite what might seem like a negative review - Tamanu was truly a wonderful place and we absolutely would come back.

Room tip: Pay a little extra to get sea front villas. The sea view villas have very little privacy

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are thrilled to hear that you found the food delicious, our head chef and kitchen team pride themselves on delivering great food making the most of local and organic produce when available.

I am surprised to hear that you felt there was a musty smell, our pillows are specifically chosen for the tropics, they are hypoallergenic and changed every 6 months. It is a shame that this feedback was not mentioned to us during your stay, this is something that could easily have been rectified if we had known about it. This is something our team should have picked up as part of daily servicing, and it is certainly something we take very seriously and we will closely monitor.

Tamanu is not an adults only resort. Historically we have been open to families in school holiday periods, or during weddings such as the one you attended.
In early 2019 we announced a change to our policy and now welcome guests 3 years and over all year round. We are excited to open our Kokonas Kids Klub soon. The only five star resort offering this facility in Port Vila.

We are very happy to hear that you loved your stay and will be back.

Warm regards,
Fiona
