We stayed one night at Toni's Beach House which is what feels like a private home on a small secluded beach a looooong bumpy car trip away from everywhere else. It's very comfortable, exceptionally clean and quiet and we were the only guests there. It seemed as though there was three double rooms and perhaps an apartment upstairs, but it was hard to tell.
The beach itself was secluded and had good swimming at high tide and interesting rock pools at low tide. As in everywhere in Tonga, there is a fair amount of litter, but it is actually better than a lot of beaches and 'forested' areas for that. The gardens are beautiful and well-maintained, the dog is friendly and the deck was really pleasant to sit on. Breakfast was small but had an interesting selection of fresh fruit.
The hosts living there were unobtrusive and when the internet wasn't working on our devices we were able to use the host's laptop without any fuss. We also used the phone for local calls for free, which was useful.
Transfers in and out are expensive so I would try to get everything you need on the first trip and enjoy your solitude!
