“Wagga City Rugby Male Choir”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

The choir stayed for four days at the end of June ... we were well looked after especially by Niva who went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The location was very central. Highly recommend this place to others.

Stayed here for a week for work. Handy location as it is at the end of the town and close to the hospital where I was based for work. My third visit to Nukualofa and definitely enjoyed my stay here. Was able to ask and get corporate rates due to the nature of my work. Friendly and helpful staff, the rooms are huge! and very roomy. Clean and the bed was comfortable. Resturant served very good food for Nukualofa ad well. Will defiantly consider staying here again in the future.

Great location and very friendly staff. Rooms were well fitted out however had some TV issues and air on issues. Fridge was also not working. Otherwise a good no frills option for staying in nuku'alofa.

I have been living at Loumaile - off and on - for the last year. As you might expect staying that long does give you an opportunity to see everything. so you see the near perfect. The rooms are probably the best available in Tonga - roomy and well fitted. The restaurant is Nuku'alofa's greatest secret - they serve very good food: carbonara better than any Italian restaurant, beefburgers with real beef and hamburgers with real ham! with fish dishes as good as anywhere! and pizzas big enough for rugby teams! Loumaile is not perfect - over a year various things happen - what makes it stand out is the people who work here - they will go out of their way to make sure your stay is a good one!

Had a lovely stay at Loumalie Lodge don't be put off by the hotel entrance, you have to access it via the Main Street and its a bit dingy the downstairs area. But the hotel is upstairs and the foyer /reception area is lovely and just as the photos show. Rooms are generous size with air con and tv. Bathrooms also large. The staff are friendly and polite especially Niv'e who made me feel safe and comfortable she went out of her way to help me in all aspects including taking and picking me up from the restaurant. A beautiful girl who has pride in everything she did. I can't speak more highly of her. There really isn't hotel style accomodation in nuku'alofa so loumalie lodge really is it. I would stay there again as it is so central to the Main Street. It is clean tidy peaceful and really lovely thank you Loumalie lodge for a lovely stay.

Once we managed to check in, the first impressions were good. The staff friendly and the reception area comfortable and attractive. The rooms were spacious, with aircon, large screen TV, a large bed and a generous size bathroom.
There were a large number of issues that show much room for improvement, but unfortunately this is one of the better hotels in Nuku’alofa so we will most likely be back.
On unpacking, we found there was no wardrobe or closet or cupboards at all in the room. There was a stand with hooks on it to hang up our clothes. There was no in room security safe. There was no mirror in the room other than the one over the hand basin in the bathroom.
In the bathroom there were no towel rails (clean towels were rolled up on small shelves but not suitable for used towels). There was no soap dish or shelf in the shower so you had to put the soap down on the shower base when you did not want to keep holding it. The shower was rather fancy with different shower heads and nozzles, but some were blocked by accumulated deposits that spoiled the spray. The water pressure was good, but the shower drain was unable to cope with the full water pressure and it would flood unless the water was turned down.
The lighting in the room was very dim. When the occupants of the adjacent room showered, it sounded as though they were in your room. The noise from outside the room was not helped by the large gap under the door which varied from 2 cm at one side of the door to 5 cm at the other. Yes the floor sloped that much.
The floors were often uneven and sloping throughout the room and elsewhere. The stairs up to the hotel level had three different tread heights. Proper stair design maintains the same tread height throughout.
The door lock to our room had been damaged and managing to lock and unlock the door took a bit of practice and care. Some other rooms had the same problem.
We found the pillows hard and too high and no options were provided. The window to our room would not close completely leaving a small gap, and would not lock. Being on the upper level, the lack of locking was not a problem, and the permanent gap probably helped with ventilation.
We were in room 108, and I saw other rooms which may have been better.
Breakfast was a buffet offering 2 kinds of cereals, a jar of instant coffee, a box of tea bags, sugar, milk, and a hot water urn. The staff would offer fruit and toast. There was no menu or anything else offered. It was such a disappointment that we were not game to eat there at other times.
Finding the hotel for the first time is a problem. The two level building has signs on the upper level but the lower level is given over to retail etc so there are a number of doors and entrances around the building with no indication at street level of where to actually get into the hotel. Once inside the lower level, there are still no signs directing you to the hotel other than a sheet of paper stuck on the wall at the stairs to the hotel level. There is no indication of where to park your car, there are no signs in the hotel car park area to indicate that it is the hotel carpark, and once there, there is no indication of how to find your way into the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a wardrobe

Held a week long workshop here. The staff went out of their way to ensure everything ran smoothly. Catering was fantastic, location great, rooms large and clean and the assistance with banking and arranging outings was very much appreciated. The only minor issue was that the internet was not quite up to the task of our internet-intensive workshop, but this was not the fault of the hotel and they did everything they could, including arranging for much out-of-hours technical support.
